I first discovered Enya at Christmas 1995, when the album "The Memory Of Trees" was being played at my school for the music to be played at the entrance to Assembly. ^_^ I was five at the time.

Then that night, I saw my dad had just bought the same album so I was more intrigued to hear it. I listened to Anywhere Is and loved it, and then came to love the rest of the album. ^_^

About a week after that, my dad played me Moonshadows - the video and I fell in love with Orinoco Flow and Caribbean Blue. And then I listened to the other three albums on LP: Enya, Watermark and Shepherd Moons. My fave songs then were Afer Ventus and Book Of Days [Gaelic].

Then for Christmas 1997 I got PTSWS Best Of collection and heard the English Book Of Days for the first time, and didn't like it that much to be fair. Since then I've bought A Day Without Rain and Amarantine.

My dad first discovered Enya in 1987, when in a pub with my mum and The Celts was being played. ^_^ He asked the barman who it was and then bought the LP from an old record shop that same day.

So what's your stories to how you discovered her?

She was credited on Mario Winan's "I Don't Wanna Know", and I was confused because I could never hear a female voice on the song - then I found out she did the backing ^_^

I didn't know how big she was though until some internet loon introduced me to her -_-

I don´t remember exactly when did I discover her, because to me she always seemed like one of these things everybody knew... Even tough her face is unknown to most, her music is played on commercials, soundtracks, documentaries, etc... On my school it was frequently used on dance performances from the girls, and stuff like that, anything who needed a background track had Enya on it. And it´s a stuff everyone knows, I have friends who know/listen pretty much nothing of popular music and they know Enya. And she is quite a legendary figure for the mistery around her... I remember some time ago everyone was sayng she died in a car crash and the label was tryng to hide this from the public, and still today there are people who insist she is actually dead. Then there are the talks that Enya is not actually a woman but a group of people. And most frequently people use to relate her to some mystical sects, and I have also been told by a friend that she was kind of a leader of a group who wants to bring back the ancient paganism to the world by making brainwash with their music. I don´t believe any of this stuff but it´s fun reading about that, and Enya herself must laugh a lot at all these mistery atmosphere.

LOL! That's so funny! Imagine shy little Enya plotting to take over the world and brainwash everyone into paganism!   Died in a car crash? No way that could be possible. The way we Enya fans pick apart her music listening to every little sound (some people say they can hear the piano bench creaking in some songs  ) we would definitely have noticed if there was a different woman singing.
