Ooh I like, it's like what Malmo 2013 was trying to be but didn't pull it off!
Ticket sales have been delayed until mid-February...hoping to attend this but only if it's actually possible to get the tickets!
Not particularly OPTIMISTIC news for Ukraine's Eurovision as ESCKaz have just tweeted that Victoria Romanova has resigned and that the team responsible for organising ESC will "completely change".

mess

why not in april tho

In better news, ticket sales begin tomorrow!
Related to the whole 'omg disorganized chaos' stuff is reports both that the OGAEs aren't getting any allocated 'fan packages' like they usually do which, eh, is probably just a storm in a teacup and that there isn't going to be a 'euroclub' for teh fanz which would be annoying enough in somewhere like Sweden or Austria but given it's in Ukraine...there's going to be quite the shitstorm brewing!

Well it's about time OGAE weren't give such massive preferential treatment and treated differently from normal people/fans so go Ukraine!

Looks like I'm not as lucky as last year, loading the page gave me a position of 4,000+ in the queue :P It's gone below 2,000 now (45 minutes later!!) but every ticket has almost certainly gone.

I'd be more annoyed had I not experienced it all in Stockholm last year though, so at least I've had the one Eurovision to remember!

IGNORE THE ABOVE f*** YEAH I JUST GOT ONE.

Logged on at 2:15am - no queue AT ALL - and there was one ticket available for the live Grand Final!! Cost me £115 but Kiev - somehow - here I come!!

Appaz the whole 21-man team has quit :')

The show sounds like a complete mess, they've got to go to quite some effort to get it off the ground and looking good in under three months time.

After the polished, professional and unbridled joy that Stockholm was, I get the feeling that this could be pretty tragic to watch in comparison, maybe almost as bad as Tallinn 2002 *80s aardvark graphic runs across scoreboard* </3

I'll always have a soft spot for 2002 as it was the first full Eurovision I watched, after seeing brief bits of 1996 and 2000's contests - I didn't even know Estonia existed at the time, let alone Latvia!

They didn't do too bad a job at Kiev 2005 though, did they? First Eurovision in widescreen which is pretty impressive, just a pity half the songs that year were Wild Dances clones.

Half the songs? What? Maybe Nox (but it's better that Wild Dances so joke is on ha) and Touch My Fire (didn't work for the general population tho did it) had the same energy but apart from these two which started the show there wasn't anything even close to what Ruslana offered. Unless you mean an upbeat song with dancing and ethnic taste in which you can include a few more but hey, calling them Wild Dances clones is a bit too far.

Yeah bad wording on my part, I just remember a lot of songs being upbeat dance numbers with tons of drumming in them - all feeling like attempts to ride the Ruslana wave from the previous year. I really wanted Chiara (Malta) to win that year so it was kinda annoying when Greece did, although I respect My Number One more now.

Also the last Eurovision to have a huge voting section that lasted ages - I do sometimes miss the old "One point...two points...three points..." voting, but by then it really was dragging on too long. Especially with the "Thank you for a wonderful contest" stuff with every country.

So tonight's the first "super saturday" of the year and there's a wide variety of NFs for you to enjoy tonight. If anybody wants to try and multitask with two or three (or hell, even all eight of the shows that are on tonight, then this multiscreen page from ESC Plus is your friend!

Because I am a sleazy self-promotion whore, if any of you are interested in reading my in-depth, overthought reviews of the songs this year then you can now check out my thoughts in a tumblr blog. As of today I've kicked things off with the intro post and the Finnish song.

Party!

This is a completely fab format Lex and it's inspiring me to up my game with my writing, a great read.

Very much agree with you on the Finnish attitude of sending something that's very them, it's something that's always drawn me to them and blindsided me to PKN going nowhere, even though I don't like this entry it still holds true for them here.

Yeah I really enjoyed reading your first two entries on this actually. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for your future postings.
Christer Björkman will be fulfilling the role of contest producer, as he did in 2016.
