...what would be your choices?

I'd say I'd only want her to headline if she had new music to promote so that she doesn't come across as merely a nostalgic, greatest hits act and those new tracks would probably take up about half the setlist (I think headliners usually have ~15 songs).

'Like a Prayer' is, of course, essential and would work superbly as a set list closer. I can imagine it being such an emotional moment to hear the crowd singing back the lyrics to her.

The likes of 'Borderline', 'Crazy for You', 'La Isla Bonita', 'Vogue', 'Ray of Light' and 'Hung Up' are all songs I think would work incredibly well in this sort of environment too and of course it would be fantastic if she performed something like 'Deeper and Deeper' or 'Jump' - both extremely joyous songs that don't get the recognition they deserve but would be easy for the crowd to soon get behind.

I was debating whether to consider 'Like a Virgin' or not. I feel like it could be too corny but I'm not sure if that would work in its favour or not - Dolly Parton's set from 2014 springs to mind and obviously the likes of 'Jolene' and '9 to 5' went down a storm with people of any demographic, but then this is Madonna and it's cool to hate her nowadays.

I think 'Everybody' would be another good choice. I just recall her Confessions Promo Tour where she used it to close the set and the "dance and sing, get up and do your thing" hook being repeated by the crowds which is just the sort of thing that works best at the likes of Glastonbury. I think its more known than its lack of chart success suggests, but even if it wasn't, it's a simple enough song for people to pick up on quickly.

It is quite corny, but I feel like the crowd would be expecting it. I still stand by that it's equally as iconic and recognisable as Like a Prayer and yes, would be like Dolly not doing 9 to 5. I'm personally not a fan of the song, but I think its care-free "everyone knows the words" nature, would be a great closer for a Glastonbury show.

The Remix live versions of like a virgin are far from corny !! The rebel Heart and confessions were especially impressive !!

Great thread !

I expect her set to be typical Madonna , huge production numbers and relaxed guitar interpretations.

I am certain she will headline at some point.

Knowing Madonna, she'll probably perform 'Music' and 'Candy Shop' for the upteenth time, have 'Holiday' to close and snub whatever her most well-received new song is (like 'Ghosttown'). :P

That's true, Madonna does know exactly how to re-invent 'Like a Virgin' and I think she could pull something perfect out of the bag for Glastonbury. I take it back!

Great set list here! I see you've been influenced slightly by the recent tour. The 'Heartbreak City / Love Don't Live Here Anymore' segment was beautiful.

Can I do what I personally would want if it was just me in the audience and not caring about any other factor? No? Well i'm doing that anyway~
