What an album <3 cannot wait for this!

Even though I prefer a handful of her other albums, it's easy to see why this is so widely regarded as her most iconic album. The tracking list reads like MJ's Thriller or Bad to me in terms of the big, grand, iconic singles and the general non-stop well-rounded pop goodness and the cover/artwork is just so classic and God-like.

Would have to class this as my fav M album !!

I relistened to the album this morning in celebration. Every song has its rightful place on the album and it all flows so wonderfully. There were some moments throughout that really grabbed me too like some of the lyrics or little vocal tricks. It's a very simple album on the surface that gets more richer the more time you give it. :heart:

The four best singles are head and shoulders above the others for me now, although I did like all of the other ones too when I was a child - oddly back then the only track I wasn't keen on was Open Your Heart!

The only Madge album along with Like A Virgin I don't own on CD, but one of the better ones for sure. I need to buy it.

WHAT an album :wub: Even my weakest song on here I thoroughly enjoy, it's just all relative. I have always enjoyed this but with this anniversary and me listening to it a lot more it's shooting higher and higher in my affections by the minute <3 <3

This rate makes it appear like True Blue is one of my favourite albums by Madonna but I wouldn't say it was necessarily right up there - I judge albums on more than just how much I like the sound of the songs if that makes sense, for instance, the Like a Prayer album has a couple of songs I'd rate lower than a 5 but my favourite moments along with the lyrics and context and mood etc. would push the album above True Blue which averages higher.

 

That's not to say I don't like this album; I actually didn't realise how much I loved it! Fantastic run of singles and the album tracks are pure pop happiness - for the latter, I may expect Madonna to generally be more complex with pop but it is still so refreshing to make care-free music like this too. 'Jimmy Jimmy' was one of the biggest surprises upon re-listening as I thought I judged that as one of her least good but it's so catchy, particularly the "why oh why oh why" hook that Vibe mentioned.

Where's The Party was the big shock for me. I've always enjoyed it but I now find it one of the most euphoric moments on the whole album.

 

This anniversary has done wonders for the album and me <3
