'Criminal' marked Britney's first ballad release since 'Everytime' (unless we are counting Rob Spears' favorite video of all time 'Someday (I Will Understand)

It's strange because Up N Down sounded so current in the UK at the time. There were loads of songs in the charts that were using samples of old dance tracks & it just fit right in. I think if they'd have realised that and released that over here rather than I Wanna Go, she'd have had another hit.

She wouldn't have done, at that point Radio in the UK had abandoned her (and that's the reason the other singles didn't do anything).

When I say 'hit' I mean 'charted better than I Wanna Go'

6.INSIDE OUT

TOTAL POINTS: 129 // AVG SCORE: 8.062

THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM AFTER 'TTWE' AND YOU WILL DEAL. 'Inside Out' was a track produced by the brilliant, Billboard and is my favorite album track from Britney since 'In The Zone' (hello Breathe On Me + Touch of My Hand), UNLESS we are allowed to count 'Amnesia'. This song breaks up the constant pop bangers and provides a nice change from the dance floor noise, along with Trip and HATLM. Bow down.

I love Inside Out. Should be higher.

If you notice the top 6 all have averages above 8! There's that at least. And 2 of the songs in the top 6 received -1's ( Inside Out being one of them).

05. HE ABOUT TO LOSE ME

139 POINTS // AVG SCORE: 8.687

'He About To Lose Me' is one of several bonus tracks off Britney's 7th studio album, 'Femme Fatale'. This beautiful stripped down ballad is quite a change in pace in comparison to the rest of the album. Britney sings about a lover basically not fulfilling her needs emotionally and physically and it makes for quite a haunting contribution to the icons list of stunning slow jams. The track pulls a similar vocal layout to 'Early Mornin' as we see Britney not pulling the heavy lifting in the songs chorus. This may be a bit off putting to some fans, but I think it works extremely well as a final product. The song received great reviews from critics, non fans and even the pop icon, Kylie Minogue, citing the track as her favorite song on the album.

04. I WANNA GO

TOTAL POINTS: 140 // AVG SCORE: 8.750

SHAME ON ME! 'I Wanna Go' was the third single lifted off 'Femme Fatale', and outside of most European markets, marked another smash hit for the undisputed princess of pop. The song peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her biggest radio hit of her career, peaking at #1 on pop radio and top 5 on the overall radio chart. This was pretty remarkable considering the only promotion she did for the single was the music video (featured above). It should also be noted that 'Femme Fatale' is her only album to produce 3 top ten hits on the Billboard charts. Slay a bit.
