I remember where I was when I first saw/heard this song and I was genuinely like “wtf is this” I was not a fan at all but over time I've grown to love it, should it have been the first single ? No, is it her worst first single ? No (hello 2 hearts)

Don't make me warn you. 2 Hearts>>>>>>

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, I just think there is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better on the album

'Where The Wild Roses Grow'- I was really young when this came out, about 12 or 13 I think and yeah I was the same and remember not liking it at the time, because back then I weren't a fan of her Indie stuff apart from 'CIM' and only liked her pop PWL stuff. But as I got older and my tastes changing, I started seeing this differently and find this really interesting and risqué, especially for Kylie and someone whose had hits such as 'I Should Be So Lucky' & 'Locomotion', I mean talk about a vast difference and change, and yes she really pulls this song off brilliantly and really love her subdued vocals on it. Even now this still sounds really good and doesn't seem dated at all. I think that this was a very important song in her discography and it was a decent sized hit in several countries, but here in the UK it was only a minor success a #11 peak and dropped down really fast, I think at the time the general public preferred and wanted her to go back to her more poppy stuff and weren't quite ready for edgy Kylie and don't think they ever will.

'Some Kind Of Bliss' - I actually didn't mind this at the time and found it quite catchy, but apart from the awful timing it was released and the critical mauling she was getting from the newspapers at the time. But honestly I don't think it would have done much better than it did anyway, as it's not very strong or memorable and definitely not lead single material at all. I remember reading somewhere that Kylie herself didn't want this as the lead single, she wanted 'Limbo' or 'Jump' and 'Too Far' were considered also, I personally think the latter 'TF' would have very interesting and out there choice and would have represented the album better. But the label chose this, because it was the most poppy and safest song on the album, but that backfired didn't it. The song is okay I guess, just doesn't have that wow factor and you can tell that the label didn't know what to do with the 'Impossible Princess' album, as basically everything got messed up royally. So no it's nowhere near one of her best, but far from being her worst, it's just not very memorable, and it's probably her weakest lead single (apart from 'Word Is Out') of her career.

Two fantastic and under rated songs, I love both these songs. Where the wild roses grow is great song that sounds brilliant to this day, some kind of bliss hasn't aged nearly aswell but I still like the song. Still remember how devastated I was when some kind of bliss missed the top 20

Here in Ireland Where the wild roses grow was a much bigger hit, and was the only top 10 hit for Kylie (number 6) from since she left pwl until she signed with parolphone, all her de con material never made the top 10 here.

I also remember working with people at that time who would have not been Kylie fans but adoring this song. These same people used to tell me Kylie was finished, this was only a one off success but her time had passed. Luckily I was still working with these people through the Light Years and Fever era where I gladly reminded them of their previous comments, boy did they have to swallow their words!!!

Thanks for the great write up on those songs and I agree with you except for "word is out" I know I'm one of very few but I love that song

Another great write up, I wasn't it got too 10 there, how was the chart run ?

Where the wild roses grow had a steady chart run from I can remember in Ireland, it climbed into the top 10 rather making its debut their and stuck around the charts for a good especially in the lower the end. If my memory serves me correct it had about 3 weeks in the top 10 here.

Isnt where the wild roses grow the song that Kylie has said she couldn't see her career without,, I'm sure I read that somewhere.

It's better than everything on X tbh, on a par with Nu-di-ty, Stars and The One.

yet I think nu-di-ty and stars are low posts, we certainly have polar opposite views on X overall it seems

Easily one of Kylies best videos in my opinion, I thought the video alone would have helped this be a average it but it didnt (except for Australia)

'Did It Again' - Another one I wasn't keen on back in the day, I was a lot younger back then and only loved Kylie's pop stuff, but again like a lot of her Indie sounding singles, I have grown to love them, this is a really decent tune and actually glad it got her back into the UK top 20. When I saw this performed live on her 'Intimate and Live Tour' is when this started to really grow on me and it's a shame that it gets overlooked so often, and she never performs it live on any of tours since then. This was definitely a great single choice from her 'IP' album, and the video was and still is awesome and definitely one of her best music videos from the 90's and probably ever.

I know a lot of fan don't like this song but I love it, always have done. Its such a forgotten song on tour and just in general. In fact the whole album is and its a shame because I think its very underrated.

What your opinion personal opinion on this song or its position in the countdown ?

Did it again was the weakest single from Impossible Princess but the video made up for the song quality. Out of the singles from the chapter of her career i find this the most forgettable.

Word is Out, i must admit i often forget about this song but when i get reminded of it (like now) i always listen to it and it is song i enjoy.

Not a terrible song, not a classic for me, and the video is just “meh” I knew it didn't do that great but I'm surprised at how low it is on his countdown

Into the Blue, is nice but was not nearly as strong as she needed the lead single to be. That said, the whole era off Kiss Me Once was a major let down.
