Posted October 3, 200618 yr Which album is heavier? Fallen or The Open Door? as im having an argument with someone about it lol
October 4, 200618 yr The production makes the new album seem heavier, but I'm not sure it is.... The new guy has a rather different guitar style as well.... Hmmm, it's hard to call it.... It's not as 'heavy' as Lacuna Coil's recent album "Karmacode", but, strangely, it's actually got a less poppy-sounding production than Within Temptation's "Silent Enigma"; I think we should just say that "Open Door" is less commercial than "Fallen", and I personally am thankful for that....
October 5, 200618 yr I would think Fallen was more commercial and yeah maybe heavier but I too am actually glad The Open Door is very different - I think it shows Evanescence in another light. I think it's perhaps a more deeply personal album than Fallen and focuses on the lyrics rather than the music to draw people in.
October 7, 200618 yr The Open Door strikes me as a very personal record where more care has been taken with the lyrics than actually making songs that are strong and commericial like on Fallen. I do love the lyrics but depends what you mean by heavy as I think lines like in 'Haunted' on Fallen - 'watching me, raping me' and lyrics about bleeding and dying etc count as 'heavy'.
October 26, 200618 yr "The Open Door" is heavier by quite a bit, I'd say. "Fallen" seems light in comparison when I listen back to it.
October 26, 200618 yr but depends what you mean by heavy as I think lines like in 'Haunted' on Fallen - 'watching me, raping me' and lyrics about bleeding and dying etc count as 'heavy'. That's not 'heavy' though mate, that's very 'teen angsty' and rather standard Nu Metally lyrical content; I mean, we've ALL heard NIN, Nirvana, Korn, etc....
October 29, 200618 yr Author that argument was with me  TOD is heavier  no no no NO  The open door as DARKER but fallen is HEAVIER
October 30, 200618 yr no no no NO  The open door as DARKER but fallen is HEAVIER Nah, "Fallen" is lightweight in comparison, the riffs in TOD are far more pronounced, the lyrical themes are more adult and darker, even the production is heavier.. Trust me, I've been listening to Metal for over 20 years so I know a thing or two about 'Heaviosity'... The difference between the two albums is like "In Utero" as compared to "Nevermind"....
