Next friday starts Bo! in the USA, with Leigh Francis doing his rubber face mask thing along with a hotel theme that sees Avid Merrion and wife sasha in LA.

so are you happy that the show's back, or are the people involved flogging a dead horse, in desparation to do something new have shifted the show to LA?

I went onto the C4 website to have a look at the clips for "Bo in the USA"... Absolutely fukkin' TERRIBLE, totally unfunny, embarrassing, grossly homophobic and just causing offence for offence's sake.... Flogging a dead horse??? A tragedy, because the first two series of "Bo Selecta" were really quite funny and original

 

If these clips are representative of the actual show itself, DO NOT WATCH!!! Sasha Baron Cohen's forays into the American psyche are FAR funnier and far more cutting and clever than this rubbish....

It's went to the USA as Avid is too known in the UK like Ali G so they had to film it somewhere were people didnt know what he was gonna do.

 

The Madonna clip is hilarious so I think this will have some elements of the first 2 series and might be alright.

Am I missing summat....? I dont find it remotely funny... And no, I'm not a 'rabid' Madonna fan or anything, I just dont see the point of it. "Ooooh, let' writhe around the floor for a few minutes and put in some fart noises in the edit suite....", someone like Paul Kaye (as Dennis Pennis) or Chris Morris would've done a damn sight more to get a laugh out of Madonna than that... Sorry, but it's fukkin' puerile, where's the punchline, the pay-off...?

 

I notice you've got a logo for "Spaced" in your sig, that shows you like good, well-thought out humour, so I dont get how you can find this at all funny tbh....

Comedy is like music to me, everyone likes their own styles of it. I'd never compare Bo Selecta to Chris Morris etc as they're completely different types. I agree they would probably have a more thought up Madonna gag though! At the same time it's so simple and so stupid it works "From the album Constipation On The Dancefloor"! :D

 

But I like Bo Selecta because it's just compleletely immature it can be funny. But I dont find it ALL funny just parts of it which is what it's let down is for me. I love serious, well thought up music but occasionally I just wanna listen to something cheesy and tacky.

 

I love Mel B too, I think her character is genius.

I think it can be as well, which is why I've been so disappointed in it after the first couple of series, I just think Avid's run out of ideas tbh and needs to move on to a different format. The thing I like about Chris Morris is that he never lets his ideas become stale or boring by dragging it out for longer than is necessary, he moves on; remember the old Shobiz maxim - always leave the audience wanting more.... :)

The first 2 series of bo selecta were legendary!

 

Series 3 was a bit "Err... thats not really funny"

 

Then there was "A bear's tail" which made me want to gauge my eyes out.

 

I will watch the first episode of this, slate it then watch no more.

I thought series 1 was ok and series 2 was decent. Series 3 was a bit hit and miss for me. :( I didn't like the new format of it but it had some extremley funny sketches and some extremley bad ones. :( I agree that they should scrap the bear now I mean the "Oh no. My tail popped out" has been used way too much in Bo Selecta now. :(

Series 1 and 2 were great, both very funny. Series 3 was hit-and-miss, and 'A Bear's Tail' was awful. If it follows the pattern, this new series is going to be dire, and if the preview clips are anything to go by it truly will be.

 

I think Barunka O'Shaughnessy is going to be in Bo! In The USA as Avid's wife. She might be OK in it, as she was quite good in 'Respectable'.

Watching the clips on the Channel 4 website was enough for me to be honest... Really put me off even considering watching it, which surely wasn't C4's intent.... :lol:

Or its changed because its about not repeating the same thing.

 

And it says on the series 3 dvd interview they changed the format because Avid wasn't a 'stalker' anymore and it made more sense to have him have his own chatshow. Which is true but it was still a c**p idea.

 

Also not being topical is bound to have an affect on this series.

Mel B aside, the last series (and a Bear's Tale) were dire, that chat show format was just childish. Were we really expected to laugh every week at the embarrassment of "c**k Nose"?
