Why on Earth did the writers believe Shakil's 16th birthday should be an episode long event? That was awful.

And why on Earth is Mark so worried about going bald with that thick mane of hair? It's pretty obvious he's taking after his mum's side of the family in that regard but it's just so 'ooooh Grant's bald as well lol tease'.

And why did Mark get alcohol from the Vic, instead of some off licence? Are they running out of ways to shoehorn in Danny Dyer's contractual appearances?

I came here to say how shockingly bad the episode was and I'm so happy to see everyone agreeing  this Shakil/Mark thing is so TEPID was that hair malarkey real? It really is like watching a shit Hollyoaks plot.

The episode needed more 'Sonia tries to cover her baby bump but then gives up and lets it all hang out on camera' moments *.*

I'd rather have the E20 lot back.

Things are that bad??!!! I haven't seen any episodes for the last couple of weeks as I've been away but I'm hoping next weeks episodes are going to be good

It was rather uncharacteristic of Sonia not to be there, sticking her beak in tbh.

And WD Bex and Shakil for being older virgins than Martin and Sonia were parents.

The younger cast are generally decent characters themselves but everything is just so forced when they're a group. We've already touched on the fact their ages range from 14-20 which is pushing the bounds of realism, but then there's the things they say and the way they act. A bad Hollyoaks plot describes the whole thing perfectly. I like that the producers are trying to show the younger characters socialising because that's something that has been missing for a while (and even longer when you consider the last time it was done well) but they've just got the whole thing wrong.

I'm assuming the younger cast are all friends off-screen so maybe it would be best to record how they act with each other and use that to help things on-screen?

I did enjoy the scene with Shakil and Martin though; that felt like Eastenders as it was character-driven, realistic and how two people in their positions would act.

But seriously, are Mark and Courtney only around for this reveal? And this is just the filler they have to do until Ross Kemp is available again?

no one wants or needs sonia onscreen though.

Claudette's boobs will win the Salsa contest. Best pair there

I'm all for Denise having Phil's baby tbh.

I can't believe that we didn't see Dot dance after all that buildup or that she's acting like she never read that letter.

And can someone remind me why it's so important to keep Mark's parentage a secret? I mean, what really was Michelle thinking? Sending a letter to Peggy Mitchell of all people? If Peggy had seen it, it wouldn't have mattered how ill she was, she'd have screeched to anyone and everyone who would listen!

Also, end of an era, but an obvious departure for

Masood

is happening. That whole family gone.

I too am living for Denise having Phil's baby; this has the makings for some great drama.

I'm surprised at the departure for

Masood

even though I really shouldn't be. I suppose I just kept expecting either

Zainab

to return or for him to become more integrated with

Carmel and Denise

.

A year since Shabnam's still birth tho
I was ready to throw my TV out the window when Louise didn't get Ronnie!!!! If this was a couple of years ago, she would've been there within a shot to sort the mess out and now NOTHING!? I don't like this character assassination they're giving her! They're turning her into a cuddly stay at home mum :/
I was ready to throw it out because THEY DIDN'T RING THE POLICE like how ludicrous was it :drama: I'm shocked they thought to call an ambulance when Phil was troubled :) Also lol at how unthreatening the killers were and that stare off was iconic :')
I love that Mitchells refuse to call the police for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I mean, what literally would have been wrong about it?
