Posted August 17, 20168 yr Firstly, album sales are very low right now. Secondly Britney's fanbase should guarantee roughly 9 - 12k opening sales anyway. Britney is the highest pre order for her release week here on Amazon (she's already 27 in the album charts there), and is 4th on the iTunes pre order chart (highest for her release week there, too). So there's no major threat from albums released that week. I am not sure how much the VMAs effect the UK charts (if someone can answer for me that's great), but I'd seen Carpool impact the single and album charts here numberous times, so that works in her favour, too! Fingers crossed. Imagine she got her first #1 album this late into her career?!
August 17, 20168 yr I think she could actually do it! VMAs have a bit of an effect in the UK, more so recently with social media being so prevalent and I'm sure a few years ago it's what kickstarted Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Same Love over here. Carpool will surely help, and the fact that sales are SO LOW right now. I really hope she can do it!

However, I can't help but feel that there will be SOMETHING that pops up to prevent her and probably block her as she sells enough to be #1 at any other time of the year! Why do I feel like this with my faves??? Stanning for Little Mix this year has ruined me :lol:

(Not now Frank Ocean), or if someone like Adele or Coldplay do a huge performance that boosts them up there.
August 17, 20168 yr I always thought of this as having a top 10 scrape written all over it, but maybe if it's an ultra dead week with doldrums sales it could challenge for top 5?
August 17, 20168 yr Yeah, it does feel like a case of "will be #1 unless something big gets in the way". I was at first worried that Barbara Streisand's album would do better but that's currently #74 compared to Britney's #22. I also think that low sales could possibly see the album appear to hold up better than her others for the first few weeks (like, it may receive the same sales percentage drops but, because sales are so low, it will still be high up in the charts. Even if that means it has a 1-7-14-20... chart run, it's better than the chart runs for her post Oops! studio albums.

There's absolutely no way this will miss the top 5, not because she'll do huge numbers but because of how the album chart looks at the moment.

August 18, 20168 yr The #1 album in the official chart update this week was on 3k, after 3 days of sales, which is quite tragic really. I'd be really disappointed if she missed the top 10 because sales are rock bottom at the moment. Thankfully I think she'll be top 5 as a minimum and the #1 is within reach for sure.

August 18, 20168 yr I really hope so, it's LONG overdue. It'd be quite a chart oddity for this to happen with her first album not to contain a Top 10 (or even Top 40) charting lead single!
August 18, 20168 yr She's never had a UK #1 album?? This country at times..That's not the best part! 'In The Zone' has a shambles peak of just #13!!!! It didn't even debut there either! :drama: (Although, it did debut at #14 so only just managed to out peak it!)
