Recorded at Glasgow's Ca Va Club in 10 days flat, this subtle, beautiful record is a glowing reminder of the benefits of spontaneity. Or as The Face put it their July 2001 issue, 'there's not a simpery lip nor comfi cardigan in sight as members of Snow Patrol, Mogwai, Belle and Sebastian et al make the best record Lou Barlow never got round to. Eco-rock'. - HMV Reindeer Section - Son Of Evil Reindeer http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/BSR19.JPG Jun 2002 At the core of The Reindeer Section are Gary Lightbody and Snow Patrol associate Jonny Quinn, Astrid's Neil Payne, Charlie Clarke, Willy Campbell, Gareth Russell and Eva's Jenny Reeve. Others who were happy to be Sectioned include Mark McLelland (Snow Patrol) John Cummings (Mogwai), Eugene Kelly (The Vaselines), Lee Gorton, Sam Morris and Ben Dumville (Alfie), Aidan Moffat, Malcolm Middleton and Colin MacPherson (Arab Strap), Sarah Roberts (Eva), Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Richard Colburn, Mick Cooke and Bob Kildea (Belle And Sebastian), Iain Archer (Cadet) and Stacey Sievewright, Paul Fox and Marcus Mackay. Inevitably, the Reindeer Section has been dubbed a Scottish indie super-group. Which is perhaps fair enough, in so far as they are indeed a group, mostly Scottish, defiantly indie and as entirely super as the talents of the Section's individual members would suggest. But super-groups conjure up images of clashing egos, tantrums and bloated self-importance. And nothing could be further from the truth as far as the Reindeer Section is concerned. "It is a side-project in that everybody's first band has to come before the Reindeer Section", Lightbody says. "And that including me and Snow Patrol. But that's the beauty of it. There's no pressure on anyone. Everybody can bring to the table whatever they want. It's fun and there's no driving force for world domination". 'A deceptive delight' - NME
