Posted October 6, 200618 yr isnt it the Cheesy pop countdown on the Hits tonight at 6??? is this when it starts? anyone know?
October 7, 200618 yr Author Sounds interesting it was even though it did have 20 Steps records back to back. not much variety there, especially when they played stomp a hour later again. good to hear eiffel 65 again even though i had to rush to find move your body on my v old hits cd. whats your fave cheesy tune
October 9, 200618 yr What exactly is the definition of "cheesy". Is it to do with the lyrics, the melody, the overall sound, the normal performance or what exactly? You used the term, tigerboy, so let's hear exactly what you think it means. Why also were Steps records called great pop records when they were regularly holding top spots in the chart but now get dismissed as cheesy? They're the same records they always were and frankly IMO not much different to what the likes of GA do now. Edited October 9, 200618 yr by Baytree
October 9, 200618 yr Definition of cheesy: sappy; overly dramatic, emotional, clichéd or silly a cheesy song , a cheesy movie a solution to a problem which doesn't display any skill or elegance
October 9, 200618 yr Definition of cheesy: Thanks Suggy :D I should think that one of those defining descriptions would cover nearly every song ever released!! Julie

October 9, 200618 yr Thing is though, there's 'cheesy' acts and 'cheesy' songs in ALL genres, it certainly isn't confined to Pop.... In Heavy Metal you've got bands like Judas Priest, Saxon, Dream Evil, Dio, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, ALL of whom can almost certainly be described as 'cheesy' if we go by the definition used. "80s Hair Metal" acts are almost universally 'cheesy' because of their image, sound, etc. I'd certainly say they were equally as silly as the likes of Steps... And, as much as I may like Lordi's "Hard Rock Halleluhjah", it is the very definition of 'cheesy'....
