Following increasing amounts of leaks, Madonna and her team combated this by releasing six, finished tracks that would be automatically downloaded once you pre-ordered the album (also made available that day). The decision was met with huge excitement, replacing the bitter taste the unfortunate leaks had left with a much more positive atmosphere. December 21, 20168 yr Ghosttown OBV Living For Love was also going to date horribly, because the non-chorus is so specific to the last few years. It doesn't sound particularly worse than it did at the time (average), but it doesn't sound fresh or exciting or innovative in any way. Devil Pray is sort of the same, but I think it's going to stand the test of time better because it's much more Madonna. Unapologetic Bitch will probably date quite well because that genre is ever present in some form or other, though I don't really LIKE IT. The other 2 were shit, remain shit and shall always be thus.

December 25, 20168 yr Author 'Ghosttown' is the best for me. At this point of Madonna's career, you don't really expect to hear the great heights she achieved when at her peak. Hell, most people may even hope for a steady, controlled decline at best. However, 'Ghosttown' has proven to more than hold its own against her classics and just fits so seamlessly. I pretty much held that sentiment from the time of release, but I kept reminding myself that the song probably required more time to settle. 2 years on and it still sounds as impressive as it first did, so I can confidently say it has and will continue to go down as one of her best. It was a fresh take on the classic Madonna ballad with an interesting message; the delivery is raw and honest (even despite the slight vocal effects); and it saw the return of the storytelling music video. Proof that Madonna is still capable of providing the goods. 'Living for Love' does follow a style that is 'on trend' and there's technically nothing too special about it, however I do still find it one of the best on the album. I love the idea behind it and live performances really enhanced the song - especially the Grammy Awards one which was the most happy I had seen Madonna on stage for a long time (and that happiness kept returning on the tour). The single that wasn't, 'Devil Pray' remains an album highlight. A great collaboration of the current dance sound with typical Madonna elements. The listing off of drugs and the like is provocative but Madonna doesn't care; I think she enjoys the fact that is can divide those who don't pay attention to what the song is actually about and those who do. 'Unapologetic' and 'Illuminati' are weaker moments from the album, but I can still appreciate the thought behind them. 'Bitch I'm Madonna' remains a big guilty pleasure, although certainly not single material and it did immediately spoil the credibility that 'Ghosttown' had reinstated.
