I still haven't seen the extended version but I do want to see what was left on the cutting room floor so would like to see it. Henry Cavill may not be the best actor but he's charming and cute so I'm a fan

Cheers Regina and welcome back :D

Suicide Squad is my favourite DC movie so far I think but massively excited for Wonder Woman so I hope that lives up to expectations.

Would definitely recommend both Dalek! Thanks for commenting :D

Yes for the Joy love  She really does an excellent portrayal in the film!

Yeah, it's a shame she got a fair bit of bad buzz in comparison to other nominees, it was one of my favourite performances last year

Thanks Haz!

Sausage Party isn't my favourite animation of the year but it was really funny so I'm happy to see it beat out Kubo here.

Eye In The Sky was amazing, one of the biggest surprises of the year for me, real edge of the seat stuff. What a high for Alan Rickman to go out on, live-action wise. (My mum didn't enjoy it because she thought it felt "too real" which I guess is true but I try not to think like that).

(Will try to go back and comment on more individual movies later when I'm not on break at work, fallen behind a bit)

Sausage Party was definitely a laugh, a refreshing take on raunchy comedy too which I liked

My Dad loved EITS and it's still one of his favourites from the whole of 2016 too, I think! I think Alan Rickman would be pleased to end on such a high note.

11. Gods of Egypt

Probably one of the year's most hated films but I actually really, really enjoyed this. Ok, some parts are actually kind of bad, Geoffrey Rush especially who stood out as being pretty terrible but it was loads of fun to watch and all the cast sold the roles too, Gerard Butler can make anything fun and it seems like he had a good time doing this too. There were some great action scenes, loved all of the CGI Gods being larger than the mortals and then shape-shifting into animals, it was just a real visual treat and there was so much to look at

12. Allied

This is a film that I was excited for but it ended up really outdoing my expectations too, both parts of the film are so entertaining and even though it didn't turn out as I was expecting from the trailers but I was thoroughly entertained and was never once bored for the whole thing. I loved the first half of how they met, the humour that came with all of that was hilarious and the chemistry between the two was electric. The second half was just as thrilling and kept you guessing about Cotillard's character right until the last moment. The ending was not disappointing either and I was beginning to tear up during the scene of her writing the letter to her son, felt like the perfect ending to such an intense third act. Was really disappointed with the negative reviews this got :(

13. X-men: Apocalypse

Like I said in my BvS, I do prefer superhero movies with a lighter tone and more jokes and this was full of some really funny humour, I loved Xavier awkwardly flirting with Moira and the joke about aging, it's the sort of self-aware humour (due to their messed up timeline) that I really like. All of the characters old and new were great, it was nice seeing the trio of McAvoy, Fassbender and Lawrence again and I thought Tye Sheridan as new Cyclops was a great addition especially. My only little problem with this was Apocalypse as a villain, his outfit never did end up looking less ridiculous and he also seemed really slow in the movie too so ended up feeling far from menacing in the end

14. The Girl on the Train

There's a bit of a recurring theme in this section of these film's getting bad reviews which is a real shame. I was hooked on the book earlier in the year whilst on holiday so I was really excited for it and although I do prefer the novel to the film, I was not disappointed with this at all. Aside from the gripping storyline, the real highlight in this is Emily Blunt who really drives the film and does a fantastic job as Rachel, it's a huge shame she has little chance of an Oscar nomination tomorrow because she deserves it for sure. The supporting cast were strong too and they helped to make the climax just as tense as it is in the book, there isn't anything more intense than seeing the corkscrew scene at the end, the whole audience was squirming in their seats!

15. Deadpool

This feels like the only well reviewed in this batch and it's not hard to see why when it was so unique in comparison to all other superhero movies, it seems to have set a new trend of R-rated superhero movies for the future too and we have Logan to look forward to in just a couple of months. I think a lot of the love came from the humour in the movies and whilst there were some great jokes (the Hugh Jackman mask and Deadpool kicking breaking his bones whilst attacking Colossus were both hilarious), that wasn't my favourite part. The action was really well choreographed and Deadpool flipping about killing bad guys was great to watch, it's just a shame we didn't get more action scenes due to the fairly low budget. Excited for a Deadpool 2 though, especially if the budget is a bit higher

Yeah, it was always going to get bad reviews but it was loads of fun!

Civil War is one of the biggest contenders too after Avengers won last year!

Thanks!!!

I love Deadpool, and Girl On The Train is a pretty good film.

Didn't like Gods Of Egypt very much, but unlike the critics and audiences alike, I didn't find it to be very bad, just underwhelming for me. :/

Fantastic Beasts and Rogue One in your Top 10

06. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I wasn't as hyped for this as the episode movies (and it hasn't done as well here as TFA, that was #4 in my EOY from last year) but I did end up enjoying it a lot more than I had anticipated. I'm not so huge on the flying and air battle scenes in comparison to the likes of the lightsaber battles but I thought the ground beach scenes were thrilling too and the scenery looked absolutely gorgeous in the third act. Diego Luna was also very likeable and totally outshined Felicity Jones imo, K2SO is yet another droid to add to the list of favourite Star Wars characters, he was absolutely hilarious and had so many good jokes. I also appreciated how gutsy the film was in

killing off the whole team

, it made for a very hard-hitting ending and was nice to see that in a blockbuster film aimed at all ages. Additionally, I loved the use of CGI to bring back Grand Moff Tarkin and I hope they use something similar for Princess Leia in future films, I would love to see her storyline finished the same way it was intended. The ending was also probably my favourite minute or so in film for the whole year, the Vader scene was SO COOL and the last line of the film is very touching, especially now due to Carrie Fisher's passing away :(

07. Suicide Squad

Along with Batman vs Superman, this is probably one of the most polarising movies of the year and whilst I can understand and even agree with a lot of the criticisms (Cara Delevigne was kinda bad and the character development was pretty bad, at least we learnt that Slipknot was good at climbing before his head was removed ), it was still a movie that I felt had a lot going for it and I am firmly on the love side of things. The characters were mostly well acted (I think Harley Quinn is already deservedly massively popular off the back of this and the likes of Amanda Waller and Captain Boomerang were fun to watch) and I just sort of fell in love with the colour and fun of the whole film. I've said before that I'm not so huge on how dark a lot of the DC movies are and this was the opposite of that with a lot of vibrancy and light in places. I just had a great time watching it and am looking forward to seeing it again now I have it on DVD.

08. The Danish Girl

One of my favourite movies from last year's awards season (probably my second favourite behind Room which is still yet to come). The acting is probably the highlight of the whole thing really, you can tell Eddie Redmayne has put thought into every facial movement and every word and Alicia Vikander's pure emotion in the role was spectacular so I'm so pleased she won the Oscar for it. The plot also was emotional, humorous and tense in all the right parts and I was never bored once. It also has an ending that had me close to tears which is testament to how much you fall in love with the characters. A real shame it got such negative reviews and only the acting was appreciated at the Oscars :(

09. Nerve

I was not expecting to like this even half as much as I did. In fact, I was tempted to just not watch it because it was on at on odd time at my local cinema so I was thinking of just skipping it. However, when I did finally see it, I fell in love with the whole idea of the Nerve game. The soundtrack was wicked and the visuals of the whole film and game were really cool, it's the sort of thing I can imagine being so big in society at the moment. I loved how intense a lot of the scenes and dares were and many had me on the edge of my seat. Dave and Emma were also very likeable and had great chemistry with one another. The only semi-disappointing thing for me was the ending as I feel like it would've been better if she actually

died

but it was still an enjoyable finish to a very thrilling movie.

10. The Huntsman: Winter's War

I liked the first one of this quite a bit to begin with anyway and I thought this was even more funnier and had much better humour and charm so I ended up enjoying it loads really. Yes, it is campy and silly and probably a bit plot-holey too but it's so much fun and I loved it on second viewing too. Chris Hemsworth and his cheeky chappy charm and humour are perfect for the lead role and the dwarves provided a fair few fun laughs too. Both the villains were badass, Emily Blunt's Ice Queen was a great addition and her powers look so cool on screen, especially in the final fight scene which was great.

I forgot to mention that I enjoyed The Danish Girl.

The film was quite sad.

Oh, and by the way, did you hear of those DC fans that attempted to shut down Rotten Tomatoes just because Suicide Squad got a low percentage rating on that site.

Yeah, the ending especially is really sad. A shame the film itself was so overlooked last year. :(

That is a bit of a step too far into utter looning but it is a shame critics are so harsh on the DC movies so far. I'd love for Wonder Woman to be a huge success so I hope that changes soon.

04. Doctor Strange

There is still one Marvel movie left to come so perhaps they could do the double and get another EOY #1 after last year with Avengers: Age of Ultron. In terms of solo movies, this has got a better placing than Ant-man from last year and is probably one of my favourite Marvel solo movies. They are formulaic movies but the formula works incredibly well and I think it'll be a long while still before I begin to get bored of all things Marvel. The CGI was probably one of the highlights of the movie, the visuals of the magic look amazing and all the buildings spinning about had most of the audience in awe watching it. Aside from that, the characters were all very good too, I'm not a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch but he really suited the role and was surprisingly funny as well as Tilda Swinton who completely stole the show, her

death

was probably one of my favourite scenes from this year and she looked badass doing all of the fight choreography too. The plot moved along nicely and I liked how the ending was clever rather than just fighting a CGI villain like we've all seen before, a nice little twist and the formula which kept things fresh, interesting and enjoyable as ever.

05. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I'm pretty sure that all eight of the Harry Potter movies would all be #1 or #2 of their respective years and it is pretty much unrivalled in a list of things I adore so I was of course, ridiculously hyped for this. Whilst I cannot rank it above any of those movies, I was still really pleased with the film we got and am incredibly hyped for all of the future instalments especially due to the Dumbledore links. I think the main reason I didn't enjoy this as much as the HP movies was because of the setting, a lot of the magic was underground and therefore the whole film felt less magical and less wondrous than the rest of the series. Saying that, there was still loads of fun magic on show, the spells were back in full-force and the fantastic beasts were a great addition (I'd love a Niffler and Bowtruckle for myself tbh). In addition to that, whilst still being very likeable, I do think Eddie or Newt were as charismatic as Harry and Katherine Waterston's Porpentina was a right bore in comparison to the fabulousness of Hermione. The side characters were great though, I'd love to see Jacob and Queenie in sequels so I do hope these characters aren't completely left behind in favour of future storylines (especially seeing as Johnny Depp is so annoying so I'm a bit gutted about that uninspired casting choice...).

Doctor Strange has never been a fave of mine in the comics and I am even less interested with this movie with Benedict in the lead.

Owwww, I do hope you see it. I don't really like Benedict Cumberbatch much at all either but he was really good in the role and it's now one of my favourite MCU films. You are missing out!!!

Oh yes, I would definitely recommend Doctor Strange. It is probably close to my top 5 MCU movies yet, definitely one of the better ones!!

01. Captain America: Civil War

It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that this has taken the top spot of my EOY this year making it two consecutive years for Marvel here. The plot itself is probably the most compelling storyline yet in an MCU movie, the conflict between the two leads and their defending teams completely grips you, especially seeing as you've seen the characters grow and it doesn't just jump straight in there like Batman vs Superman. The real highlight in this were the utterly fantastic action scenes though, I think people will be talking about the airport scene for years as it is just jam packed full of cool moves or surprises like the Ant-man reveal. Even the smaller action scenes like the Nigeria scene and the actual Iron Man vs Bucky vs Cap scene with some excellent action choreography. My favourite characters are still the females though, Black Widow is completely badass and Scarlet Witch's power set looks wicked on screen (omg at her pulling all the cars from the car park on top of Iron Man!!!!). Zemo was an interesting villain and it was nice to not have a big CGI villain in a team up movie. Not long to go until Infinity War now :D

02. The Jungle Book

If you need any film to showcase just how realistic computer imagery can be, I think this is the film to show it. From the moment the film begun, I was completely flawed at how the animals looked and it's crazy to think this was all just shot indoors. I think it's testament to the voice acting as well how good the movie was with talking realistic-looking animals looking so good. Idris Elba was petrifying as Shere Khan and is one of the best voice roles in years imo. I also really liked Billy Murray who sounded loveable as Baloo and Kaa with a perfect mix of sexy and scary as Kaa. I really do wish Kaa was in the film more and we actually got to hear Trust In Me in the film itself and not just on the soundtrack because it's probably my favourite Jungle Book song tbh. The film had the perfect balance of humour and cheer whilst looking utterly breath-taking and being so tense in all the right moments too. So excited for the sequel for this and I hope the Andy Serkis one is just as good when that eventually gets released.

03. Room

Whilst I probably do prefer the novelisation of this (I think I read it in the space of a few hours, bought it for a train journey and had finished it before the end of the day, could not put it down!), the film version did a great job of adapting it (probably due to the author of the novel writing the screenplay too). One of the most heart-breaking dramas in years, I don't think many people were able to hold back tears during scenes like when Ma was re-united with Jack. Much like the book, the beginning half of the film is a lot more enthralling than the second but there are still many great moments in the second half. The acting in the film is another huge highlight, Jacob Tremblay really deserved an Oscar nomination for his role as Jack as he really carried the film and was able to hold his own in a talented cast despite being so young. Obviously Brie Larson did a great job too and was a worthy winner of her Oscar award (although I'd have probably picked Cate Blanchett personally). This is a film I would thoroughly recommend but definitely bring your tissues with you!

Room is such a great film I loved the first half more than the second too to be honest but the acting by Jacob and Brie carried the second half along and just their parental /son realtionship was evident throughout/ I should read the book too

Captian America: Civil War was very great too had a great plot even if kind of confusing  but yeah might even be my favourite of the Captain America films but with both the first and second to compete with  Black Widow is no doubt my favourite character when will she get her stand alone film come on Marvel!!! Scarlet Witch im still unsure about because I remember in Age Of Ultron I never warmed to her as much as I did to her brother :(. In terms of males I still love Captian America, Bucky, Iron Man and also really loved the introduction to SpiderMan!
