Elvis first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on September 9th 1956 and was introduced by Charles Laughton who was hosting the show as Ed Sullivan had been involved in a car accident and was unable to appear ;)

There's two things I can think of ;) One was when Ed Hopper, a gas station attendant attacked Elvis when he asked him to move along from the gas station but a mob of fans had surrounded the car and Elvis wouldn't/couldn't move. It went to court but all charges against Elvis were dismissed

 

A few weeks later Elvis was accosted at a hotel in Ohio by the jealous boyfriend of a girl who carried Elvis' picture in her bag :wacko:
