Posted December 30, 20168 yr I feel as though you can judge how popular an artist is by where their songs debut in the chart - so which artists do we know of that could release a song and have it go top ten in the first week? Here's a list of a few that come to mind~ Drake Adele Clean Bandit The Weeknd Calvin Harris Little Mix One Direction (solo or together) Any others that you think could debut top 10 first week?
December 30, 20168 yr Taylor Swift with Spotify. Harry & Liam from 1D have a really good chance at debuting in the top 10 with their lead singles. Also Katy Perry might do it. Edited December 30, 20168 yr by BigMixer
December 30, 20168 yr + basically all of these Justin Bieber (more like #1 in this case :kink:) Ed Sheeran Rihanna Katy Perry Taylor Swift (won't need spotify) Eminem (depends on the song) Justin Timberlake Ariana Grande (with the right song) The Chainsmokers (not sure about a core fanbase but their next proper single would debut Top 10)
December 30, 20168 yr Beyoncé if she followed a proper release strategy I also feel like Ellie can still do it with the right song Edited December 30, 20168 yr by cqmerqn
December 30, 20168 yr let's not forget Sia would've done it with 'The Greatest' if she didn't release it midweek.
February 11, 20178 yr I thought 'A Head Full Of Dreams' was meant to be their final album? Are they releasing new material this year then?
February 13, 20178 yr Not many now. Not sure about Eminem debuting Top10 now. Back in 2013 I would say yes but now probably not.
February 13, 20178 yr Oh I think Eminem definitely has the name power to debut top 10. Especially with the amount of time he's been away for. He managed to get a Big Sean album track into the top 75 with his name just last week anyway. If Eminem does another song with Rihanna too that could very well be a #1 contender.
February 13, 20178 yr This thread is for singles chart discussion - it's a lot easier for a popular artist to debut in the top 10 albums chart :P
February 13, 20178 yr I'm quietly confident Sam Smith is gonna do an Emeli Sande or maybe even a Duffy with his next era.
February 13, 20178 yr Author I think Sam Smith is the kind of artist we think will debut at #1, but actually debuts around 6-9, depending on how busy the week is. Also, I reckon Eminem would debut top ten. If he had a good feature on the track then it'd probably be more like top 5.
February 13, 20178 yr I have a feeling Jess Glynne won't have quite the big comeback some are expecting. I'm sure she'll have another hit but a top 10 debut is unlikely unless it's a joint single with Clean Bandit. Sam Smith will definitely have a top 10 debut, and he will be the first gay man to do so. :) :) :)
February 13, 20178 yr I think Cheryl possibly could. I imagine there'll be a fair amount of hype for her comeback seeing as she hasn't released a lead single for a few years. I guess streaming could be an issue for her though (like Katy).
