Posted October 9, 200618 yr Does anybody know if the band Orgy are still together and recording new material? Their last album Punk Statik Paranoia was released in 04 and no news since. :( Wikipedia is pretty useless and doesn't say to much about them.
October 9, 200618 yr I thought they were a pretty cool band to be honest, part of that post-Trent Reznor generation of Industrial rock bands (see also Stabbing Westward, Godhead, Machines of Loving Grace, Cold, etc..); I got the first two albums of theirs. Not sure if they're still a going concern or not, some of Orgy ended up playing in Adema I think, John Davis from Korn has also collaborated with various Orgy members as well... I do find it pretty irritating that the only Orgy song anyone ever seems to go on about is the cover of New Order's "Blue Monday", which I dont really think is that great to be honest, not representative of the band at all IMO....
October 9, 200618 yr Author Yeah I own their first 3 albums also and its shocking how unknown they actually are really besides "blue monday". Jay Gordan sung a great song produced by John Davis for the queen of the damned soundtrack called "Slept so long" Their offical website hasn't been updated since their last album in 04 and they haven't been seen to been up to much lately Edited October 9, 200618 yr by Ozmead
October 9, 200618 yr You should maybe check out a band called Mindless Self Indulgence, a fan of Orgy or, alternatively, a disillusioned Marilyn Manson fan would likely find much to enjoy there.... :)
October 9, 200618 yr Author I like the more electronic rock stuff like "Fiction" rather than the shouty manson-esque type stuff. I quited like Adema! I didn't realise some of the band members went on to play for them. interesting.
October 13, 200618 yr I do find it pretty irritating that the only Orgy song anyone ever seems to go on about is the cover of New Order's "Blue Monday", which I dont really think is that great to be honest, not representative of the band at all IMO.... it's the only song of theirs i remember, haha... i did hear the album ages ago but didn't interest me that much at the time tbh
October 13, 200618 yr Author Theyr'e brilliant electronic rock! Sometimes they look a bit of a joke - middle aged men trying to look like "pretty boys" but they have a cool style. they come across almost as mannequins impersonating robots or something like that! lol My favourite song of theirs is "fiction (dreams in digital). Here is the video: Fiction Edited October 13, 200618 yr by Ozmead
October 13, 200618 yr youtube sound doesn't help this at all... sounds so cheezy! I liked quite a few bands of this ilk 5 years before orgy so never felt need to listen to them tbh. I also preferred real industrial more, kmfdm, ministry, skinny puppy, even NIN i liked of course :)
October 13, 200618 yr Author I really love the song and their others. I don't think they're cheesy. I think the lyrics are quite out there and a bit imaginative. I can't comment to much though because I am not to familiar with the industrial genre. NIN are cool Edited October 13, 200618 yr by Ozmead
