Poldark returned with 350k more than Series 2's opening episode averaged.

FYI, One Love Manchester rated 11.63m according to BARB's 7-day data figures, making it officially the most watched programme of the year, both excluding and including +1 (only narrowly on the latter though).

Thanks! Good overnight figures this time then. Not only did more people vote, there were also more taking an interest in the results. I wonder if the same will happen in September or October :P

Absolutely tragic figures for Big Brother last night. Including +1, it got 800,000 whilst Love Island got 1.5m. In the 16-34 category, Love Island got over 800,000 whilst Big Brother got a tragic 202,000.

Definitely looking like it will be the end once the contract runs out next year.

Ouch!, is that the lowest figures Big Brother has ever had.

I'd be amazed if C5 carried out with Big Brother with the contract running out next year with these figures.

My god, what has happened to Doctor Who??

International syndication is the only thing that will save it now!!

My god, what has happened to Doctor Who??

International syndication is the only thing that will save it now!!

Its 7-day ratings are actually pretty in line with series 9, it's doing just fine! It's still one of the most watched programmes on a Saturday, and perhaps with timeshift it's BBC1's biggest Saturday night show at the current moment? Sure it's down from the RTD days but let's not forget it's been on for 12 years since the revival now, and Capaldi seems less popular than Tennant and Smith were. Perhaps the next Doctor might reinvigorate some interest from any lost viewers. The BBC are committed to it for many years to come anyway :D

But 3 million down from 11?!

Average consolidated ratings per series since the revival (thanks to Gallifrey Base):

7.94m- Series 1 (13 episodes)

7.71m- Series 2 (13 episodes)

7.55m- Series 3 (13 episodes)

8.05m- Series 4 (13 episodes)

7.73m- Series 5 (13 episodes)

7.52m- Series 6 (13 episodes)

7.44m- Series 7 (13 episodes)

7.26m- Series 8 (12 episodes)

6.03m- Series 9 (12 episodes)

So far, the average of the 7 day rating of series 10 is 5.68m, which is a bit lower than series 9 but once again there's a number of factors to consider still. Basically there's nothing to worry about as it's still doing very respectably!

Re: Doctor Who - Overnight ratings shouldn't be that important to the BBC since they don't need the live viewership for ad revenue, so for them it's better to judge their shows by official figures.

It's obviously much more important for others because it's how they make their money. I can't see Ackley Bridge surviving if it keeps dropping!
