"Final Conflict" is pretty rubbish, it has one of the worst endings I've seen in a horror film.. Not as bad as "Ninth Gate" though.....

"Damien" is pretty okay, but it's not very well directed... It looks way too much like a TV movie...

Completly agree about the first sequel. Looks just like a TV movie. "The Final Conflict" had a good idea (a sucesfull adult damien) but had a lousy script and some awful dialogue (especially from damien!) and the ending! - just awful. Im sure the director was just fed up and just wanted the whole thing over with. It contradicts the other movies. It takes more than just one of the daggers to kill him. In between the stupid monks and damien's relationship with his "girlfriend" the film gets lost really.

all 3 original Omen films were brilliant - I can't honestly believe anyone would truly think the remake is a better movie. And Billiw Whitelaw as the original Nanny is fantastic - absolutely.

The remake was dumb, cheap and nasty. As most of these horror remakes seem to be - dumbed down c**p for the dumbed-down MTV generation.

Tragic, really..... when will film-makers get it into their heads - you should NOT remake a classic movie - EVER. The Wicker Man, Omen, Texas Chainsaw, Hills Have Eyes...all testament that more money certainly doesn't mean more quality. It truly saddens me that most of the kids going to see these films will not have seen the originals - and when they do, the low budget effects etc will make them think the original is a weaker film.

Yep, tragic.....

I broadly agree with that, but "Hills Have Eyes" is actually pretty good IMO (and you know how much I despise remakes..), extreme in a good way, it's just the rather silly prosthetics that spoil it a bit... But I think Alexandre Aja did as good a job as he could, he definitely retained the atmosphere and sense of dread... He certainly did not make the film for a 'teenie' audience as it got rated an NC-17 in the US, and the DVD is unrated.. It is NOT a kid's film... I'd have no hesitation in putting it in the same category as "Wolf Creek", "Land of the Dead" or "Devil's Rejects" - all examples of good quality recent horror...

It contradicts the other movies. It takes more than just one of the daggers to kill him. In between the stupid monks and damien's relationship with his "girlfriend" the film gets lost really.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head as well... In the original 'Bugenhagen' (or however the fukk you spell his name.... LOL) tells Thorne he has to insert ALL the daggers in a particular order, it's not just a case of one dagger does the job... Total continuity fukk up....

Yes, there is a decent kernel of an idea in "Final Conflict", it is just badly let down by a bad script and indifferent direction... First one is by far the best imo....
