well i think in the case of ms dynamite it was that the press & public got tired of her genre/style of music. it was that garae dance stuff wasnt it? that hasnt been in pop style for ages

Remember Debbie Gibson? For those who can't remember back to the late 1980s she was the US teen pop star who wrote, produced & performed her own material. She had two huge multi-million selling albums in the USA - 1988s Out Of The Blue & 1989s Electric Youth and was then famous for her squeaky clean wholesome image.

 

Back then she was as popular as what Kelly Clarkson is now & what Britney Spears was a few years ago.

 

However she took a career break & did not return until 1992 with the album Body Mind & Soul. In the wake of Kylie sexing up her image (Better The Devil You Know onwards) & Madonna (post Justify Your Love), this "grown-up" video for the "comeback" single "Losing Myself" managed the quite impressive achievement of alienating most of her remaining fanbase whilst failing miserably to gain a new audience.

 

After this a trip "Down the Pop Dumper" & a career on Broadway beckoned.....

Okay it's from 1982 & not many will have remembered how great the bands debut album was and one of the enduring classics of the 1980's,but the follow up albums 'Beauty Stab' & 'How to be a zillionaire' were frankly poo in comparison and both those failed to make the UK Top 10 album charts.
