It's okay I guess. I feel like they're going through the same path as "Waiting For The End".

Album is called 'One More Light' and will be out May 19th. 'Heavy' is the first single out now.

I just realised how little sense this post makes  That's what you get when you post at 11.35pm.

I am gobsmacked at how different this is for them :o This isn't up there with their best but I am actually quite liking it after the initial shock.
It's good but it sounds nothing like a Linkin Park song, even as diverse as they've been in the past. Like it's got the synths that were on Living Things yeah but it sounds merely a step away from a popular pop duet.

How the mighty have fallen!! This is not Linkin Park!

(but I do actually quite like the track)

Quite ironically this is not heavy or LP whatsoever. I don't like the song either
I dont know what to say about heavy. The intro is boring, sounds like Chester reading his shopping list. But The "Holding Ooooonnnnn" part, I loved that.

'Battle Symphony' is released today as an Instant Grat... it's laughable at just HOW commercial they're sounding now, but tbh, I'm loving it!
Battle Symphony is so so good  Tbh this new commercial sound is infinitely better than their old music, this sound suits them more and I hope the full album is like this.

I'm going to need to see receipts before six albums of exciting genre-hopping is reduced to a misguided unsuited direction compared to some slightly rocky Chainsmokers songs.

Like, these songs aren't that bad, I'm coming around to Heavy, but they're not that good either. Before, even when they were taking cues from other trends like on Minutes To Midnight (more alternative) or on Living Things (more electronic) or even reggae (Waiting For The End) they still had roots in what had come before and stood out as Linkin Park, they had a strong identity and you could feel some power from it. Thing is, I always expect them to change and hybrid up with something, so I expected something different especially as they treated us with a full rock album last time but normally they don't go headfirst into creating what all pop artists are doing at the time. Battle Symphony really could be done by Bastille and I'd be none the wiser.

This could have been to tropical house as Living Things was to dubstep, using it in interesting ways with their rock roots to make a tired trend interesting again, that's what they're normally good at innovating with. This isn't innovation.

I'm liking these new Maroon 5 singl- oh wait.

Exactly this, only if Bastille put these songs out I'd be disappointed, hell if it was Coldplay I'd be disappointed, it's so safe it makes me feel ill. If this was Chester's side project ok, I could understand that but this absolutely should not have Linkin Park's name on it. The worst part is they're trading a dedicated fan base (who are already abandoning them) for a fickle pop fan base that'll forget them in a few month's time. They don't even sound bad, just mediocre and middle of the road. Where are the guitars? The building harmonies between Chester and Mike? I don't even care when there's no screaming (I first got into their more mellow songs on Minutes to Midnight - see Shadow Of The Day and Leave Out All The Rest - and they're among their best) but please this is Linkin Park, there should be a little distortion or guitar work at least. I have no idea what the rest of the band are doing. Linkin Park have always moved with the times but here they've lost their soul, these songs make me feel nothing. I absolutely appreciate that bands/ artists want to experiment but there's nothing experimental here, they sound like everything else. Frankly they sound like a BJSC songs that sound nice but miss out on my votes for having pretty much nothing to them. The cynical part of me says that they did this is an attempt to stay relevant in the mainstream in an era of streaming and an ever... "evolving" chart.

I do still like the lyrics and Kiiara has a nice voice but the dislike bar on the YouTube video should say it all tbh.

What's the deal with Battle Symphony, is it a grat or an official single? Can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. Don't care what anyone says though, it's a cracker of a song
