Posted March 30, 200619 yr Graham Coxon has spoken openly for the first time about his last days in Blur, admitting he was "an alcoholic mess". The guitarist, who has established a successful solo career since leaving the band during recordings for 2003's "Think Tank", has rarely commented on his exit from the group. Coxon, a founding member of Blur, says in a new interview: "I was an alcoholic mess and not able to fulfil my obligations. "The rest of the band could have stood back and seen I was having a terrible time. They could have tried to help. It raises the question of how responsible we felt for each other." Coxon has also admitted became disillusioned with Blur's music, insisting: "We started turning into some kind of pompous, bloated, anthemic bullsh*t thing. "I simply did as I was told. I spent too long putting my dignity on the back-burner for the sake of advancing the band's position." Graham Coxon's new album "Love Travels At Illegal Speeds" is out now. He is currently on a UK tour. (from uk.news.launch.yahoo.com)
