March 1, 20178 yr I don't actually think Statements would win Eurovision. Similar songs or songs of a similar genre never win twice in a row...I'm not saying it's anything like 1944 melodically, but there are a lot of other parallels. An important message, the subtle nature of the song with no obvious huge pop chorus, the drama, the big performance etc... I think the juries would lap it up for sure but not enough to compensate for an average/weak televote, which could happen seeing as the song didn't exactly mobilise the Swedish televoters. I just feel a more straightforward pop song will win Eurovision this year.
March 1, 20178 yr Author The Eurovision televoting system would definitely benefit Loreen more than the Melodifestivalen app voting does, it's very much a marmite thing and its better to be some people's complete favourites than more people's 4th or 5th favourites. While you'd think this may then make the jury go against her, I do think they'd support her massively. While I don't think she'd win anymore, I do think she'd give Sweden the best result of any of the remaining 16 acts in MF. The thing letting Wiktoria down is the staging, it annoys me how it is all so dark. I know it's night time and she's laying herself down to go to sleep but I think they should have had bright colours and then the staging can just go dark when she does go to sleep on the bed in the middle 8 with the LED floor interaction. Then when she wakes up again for the final chorus it can all go colourful again. It's a party song and I feel like Sweden are missing the mark on a rare occasion here. I doubt they'd change anything if it did go to Kyiv as well. It's not a gamechanger, but it makes her a Kyiv top 10 contender rather than a top 5. I love the last minute of the staging, but the rest is just too dark.
