Seen them all and my ranking would be this:

1 Cate Blanchett "Carol"

2 Brie Larson "Room"

3 Jennifer Lawrence "Joy"

4 Saoirse Ronan "Brooklyn"

5 Charlotte Rampling "45 Years"

This is one of the strongest categories in years for me! Cate Blanchett was stunning in Carol and even as a viewer, you're completely seduced by her. Brie Larson would be a close second for me, the scene where her and Jack re-unite is heart-breaking and she does a fantastic job there. Joy is actually pne of my favourite Jennifer Lawrence roles, I thought she did a great job in the scenes where she sells the mop on TV for the first time the most. Saoirse Ronan had a bit of a quieter performance in Brooklyn compared to the rest but she was the heart and soul of the story and wouldn't work without her. Thr only who I wasn't impressed with was Charlotte Rampling, she did nothing to help make a dreadfully dull film any less boring and the lip quiver did nothing for me either.

My line-up would probably be the same aside from Rampling, I'd have probably put in Maggie Smith for The Lady in the Van. Good comedy is hard to do and her comedic timing in that was spectacular, it would've been nice to see her get a nomination for the first time in over a decade. Same goes for Melissa McCarthy in Spy who delived comedy expertly in that (I'd have probably nominated Rose Byrne and Jason Statham in the supporting categories) but she never really stood much of a chance. I liked Helen Mirren in WIG too so would've been happy to see her get in after her shock SAG nom. Anyone would've been better though tbh!!

01 Saoirse Ronan

02 Brie Larson

03 Jennifer Lawrence

04 Cate Blanchett

05 Charlotte Rampling

Saoirse and Brie both deserved Oscars, both were incredible and are all timers for me and they carried their films so well! Saoirse in particular was just utterly stunning in Brooklyn <3 Loved J-Law in Joy and I find the film and her performance very underrated tbh! Cate was great as ever in Carol and Charlotte was pretty good in 45 Years but I felt there were some slightly better performances in 2015 even though I am glad Chatlotte got an Oscar nom as I rly like her!

Melissa or Amy or Charlize over Charlotte and that's probably all I'd change!
