ROBBIE WILLIAMS IN CONCERT - CLOSE ENCOUNTERS TOUR - Buenos Aires, Argentina 14/10/06

Well, first of all, I'll start to tell you how it was until I arrived to the River Plate Stadium. We were off to Nunez (that's the name of the town where the stadium is placed) at around 3:30PM and arrived at around 4PM. We got to River Plate stadium only to notice that there was a 5-blocks queue -_- but we were happy enough just to be there, we knew we were about to live an amazing experience, especially me, as it was my very first concert!

We finally got to our places after 3 hours. We sat down and waited patiently. Very cool videos were shown on the big screens (videos picked by Robbie himself?) including Scissor Sisters' "Take Your Mama" and Arctic Monkeys' "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" amongst many others.

Also several ads were shown, including Robbie & David Beckham's Unicef campaign (everytime Robbie appeared on the screen the crowd went wild and wicked!) and the promo ad for his forthcoming album "Rudebox" due for release on October 23th world-wide.

Then, at 9PM the support act appeared on scene, an Argentinian band called La Portuaria. They failed to impress and their set was pretty boring, but the crowd was polite enough to receive them warmly. They finished at 9:45PM, by then, we were dying in overexcitement and anxiety...

THE SHOW

The lights went completely off, the crowd started to scream histerically, fire and explosions started all over the stage, and suddenly a final explosion ended with Robbie appearing magically on stage!

"Radio" kicked-off and everyone started to sing, jump and scream hecticly... we were enjoying a huge party where Robbie Williams was the host. He was showing everyone he was the ultimate pop star and the greatest show man in music business!

The party continued with "Rock DJ", with the 65,000 people at the stadium making background vocals for the hugely popular No.1 hit-single. From "yes you can!" to "funk" and "soul", the crowd sang with passion!

Following the up-beat pattern, "Tripping" started and made us dance and enjoy the moment even moreso! Robbie was very kind to the crowd, he spoke a lot in Spanish and made very funny jokes, like saying something in Spanish and then continuing "I don't know what the **** that means" :D He said things like "I know this'll be hard to believe, but you're very special to me, and I swear I don't say this too oftenly, I mean it" I know people will think everything is bull$h!t, but I believe and trust my Robbie :)

Things continued in the up-beat mood with "Monsoon", and it surprised me the fact that this song is hugely popular amongst Argentinian fans (I didn't know this).

After that it came a song that is arguably the most popular hit from the "Intensive Care" project here in Argentina: "Sin Sin Sin", the crowd enjoyed and sang happily! "Millennium" followed nicely with a kind of intermission where Robbie rapped some parts of "Rudebox" (this is where I thought, right, he won't sing it properly then). It was very nice and exciting till a ballad brought emotion to our hearts, "Make Me Pure" started with all the lights off and the crowd being asked by Robbie himself to light the darkness with the cell-phones... it was a very magic moment, I swear... it seemed like you were watching a night-sky full of starts, it was a very emotional moment. You have to live it to believe it.

A "break" came after with Robbie presenting the members of his band, the crowd ovationated and applauded politely and then he introduced a certain Johnny Wilkes?? they sang together "Me And My Shadow" and then made something very funny, to cheer up the crowd (yes, even more!!!!) they started to name Argentinian football-players!

That was followed by "Strong"... Robbie asked us to sing it following the lyrics on the screen. This one also with Johnny. Then Johnny left and Robbie started to make jokes about Take That: "remember I was in a band called Take That?" and he started to make jokes singing parts of "Relight My Fire" and "Could It Be Magic" in some ridiculously and funny manners. He continued "was Take That popular here in Argentina??... hmmm... so so I think"... "but I know this next song was huge... Back For Good!" and the people went crazy again!! He sang the entire "Back For Good", the crowd choired every lyric of the hit.

Continuing the emotions came "Advertising Space", starting a bit of madness came "Come Undone" and slowing down again "Feel", for me, the most special moment of the night. The most emotional, the most personal performance I've ever seen by Robbie.

To start the crazyness again, "Let Me Entertain You" rocked the whole stadium, everyone dancing, singing, shouting, going wild!!!! After this song Robbie disappeared for a little while... a guitar solo entertained us for a couple of minutes.

After this, the catchiest moment of the night: "Rudebox" started to sound! Okay, I have to tell you something: I've always liked "Rudebox", but I've never realised how good this song was until I heard it live last night. It's a very powerful pop anthem that sounds amazingly when performed, I strongly recommend everyone to hear it live, cause if you dislike it, I'm dead sure you'll love it after listening to it performed at a stadium! I mean this, "Rudebox" is the best thing that could've happened to pop in a very long time, and I don't say this oftenly! You have to believe me.

The final moments were arriving: "Angels" exploded in emotion, as usual, Robbie let the crowd sing almost the entire song, and he bursted into tears... he said it was a very special moment for him, the crowd was very touched too. The unthinkable was coming: we didn't want to believe the show was ending, we couldn't accept the fact that this was about to end. We had waited so long for this to happen, and the show was the fastest thing ever, 2 hours of joy and happiness and excitement that seemed only 2 minutes... but that tends to be a good thing!

Everything went off when suddenly Robbie said "okay, one more!" and "Kids" started! He asked the crowd to make the Kylie vocals ^_^ This was one of the catchiest moments of the night, jumping on board (duh) and shouting.

Then this was the real end: Robbie sang "She's The One" and "Better Man" a capella with us the crowd and said goodnight and thanked many times. I was ecstatic. I couldn't believe myself it was the end, I didn't want to believe that! After all the euphoric concert I realised how tired I was, the Robbie impact had hit on me, but I didn't want that feeling to end. I was missing him already, and I still do. I swore to myself I'd go to any concert from now on, I wanted to kill myself for not buying tickets for Sunday's gig too!!!

So here I am today, still with the feeling of yesterday's concert and wanting even more... will I ever get over it? Hopefully he'll return soon, he promised and I believe he'll come back... he had promised in 2004 he'd come to do gigs and he did this year, so I have my fingers crossed, and when he returns I'll go to see him again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:yahoo: :cheer:
