March 11, 20223 yr I think it's a strong cohesive album! No wow amazing tracks but still a solid album.
March 11, 20223 yr bit worried everyones rating LGHT as the highest rating track... i'll give it a listen this afternoon
March 11, 20223 yr I wasn't a huge fan of LGHT and whilst it's pleasant I'd say there is better on the album!
March 11, 20223 yr Definitely an album about self love and self discovery. A 'Break Up' album. Ranking based on first listen 1. Emotions 8/10 2. What About Us 9/10 3. Ugly 6/10 4. Let's Go Home Together 10/10 - My Fav Track from 2021 5. Brave 9/10 6. Out My Head 7/10 7. Thank You For The Hell 8/10 8. Sorry That I Miss You 9/10 (would have been a 10 but the ending is a bit meh) 9. Everything I Didn't Say 9/10 10. Bad News 6/10 11. Cry On Me 7/10 12. Good Things Take Time 6/10 13. Northern Lights 6/10 14. Set In Stone 5/10 15. Body 6/10 16. Places 7/10 Very strong album but it is a bit samey lyrically and musically! Future single : What About Us
March 11, 20223 yr Very very solid album, i love the title track and what about us and emotions i like but know is a song that i love even more with more listens.
March 11, 20223 yr Played it a 2nd time. Would probably lift a few scores but still generally think a lot of songs aren’t melodically strong enough. I guess she was so bursting to say things the words came first and the music second. I am pleasantly surprised by the vaguely country thing she’s got going on though. Wasn’t expecting that at all.
March 11, 20223 yr Solid album. Would benefit from fewer tracks and some she’s released over the years. But her voice and style is just so good.
March 11, 20223 yr Her Glorious EP has really grown on me and I’d have liked a few more songs in that style. Which is funny as I wasn’t that keen on it when it first came out.
March 11, 20223 yr I can also definitely hear Issues by Julia Michaels in Ugly, I think that’s what helps make it one of my favourites.
March 12, 20223 yr Certainly doing better than most of us thought. A few record shop signings coming up and the Prizm gig soon should give a little boost. The biggest help will obv be a price reduction… Still a shame there’s no obvious new singles off this album..,
March 12, 20223 yr I'm listening to this album now, and my God it is so boring it's unreal. :( Sorry Ella
March 12, 20223 yr On the lyrical content. It’s totally understandable that Ella dwells a reasonable amount on positive body image, especially after the likes of the ghouls at the Daily Mail went after her. But generally I really wish artists would broaden their horizons from (almost now ‘safe’) issues like body image and breakups to other things that are happening in the world and effect lots of people (I mean how about poverty, war, discrimination, the climate, lying politicians to name a few?) I guess they are too frightened to lose sales but things are becoming tiresome lyrically.
March 12, 20223 yr £5.99 signed CD on her official store! Definitely worth a shout if anyone’s on the fence! https://eurostore.warnermusic.com/uk/artist...n-t-say-cd.html Edited March 12, 20223 yr by Mr. C. Joel
March 12, 20223 yr I think it's too long - it didn't need to be 16 songs, 12 would've held my attention better. That said, it was a good album and there's plenty of songs I'll happily relisten to - Emotions, What About Us, Ugly, Sorry That I Miss You, Everything I Didn't Say and Bad News were the ones that stood out to me most. Hope it can make the top 5 this week!
March 12, 20223 yr I think it's a solid album but agree it's a bit too long. Emotions, Thank You For The Hell, Out My Head and Sorry That I Miss You stood out to me on first listen.
March 12, 20223 yr She’s performing Brave on BBC 2 shortly. She is a really talented artist. You don’t sing with a televised orchestra unless you are damn good. Enjoying this show. Live performance music is a real treat.
March 12, 20223 yr What About Us has really hit me now. Can kind of see Adele fitting that songs quite well.
March 12, 20223 yr Weird production choices on this album, but really great album overall. Something weird I noticed is that on the official lyric video of 'Out My Head' the end screen credited it under Ella Henderson & Tom Grennan but that is likely a mistake :P
