How do I see today's Spotify chart?

 

To see the daily top 50 update on desktop, log in to Spotify, click 'Browse', then click 'Charts', then click 'United Kingdom Top 50'. The desktop top 50 will often update before anything else so is always worth checking if the website is not up to date.

Note that the Spotify Website will usually update before external websites (Kworb, LivePopBars). Also, the top 100 via the Spotify Web App may be updated before the website.

 

How often does the chart update?

 

It should update once every day, although this is not 100% guaranteed.

 

How many plays on Spotify equals one download sale?

 

150 plays. However you cannot simply play a song 150 times in one day to give it one sale, you are limited to 10 plays per day (in terms of what counts to the chart, Spotify will let you play a song on repeat 150 times if you really want to!!). This used to be 100 plays but the ratio was recently revised by the OCC.

 

How much does Spotify contribute to the chart?

 

Streaming as a whole contributes approximately 80% to the singles chart, although this will be reduced as the new ratio comes in. Spotify counts for approximately 70% of all streaming sales, so doing well on Spotify is essential for doing well in the chart.

 

Why is my fave not doing well on Spotify?

 

Is it being promoted on one of Spotify's major curated playlists? If it isn't, it's unlikely to really take off! Hot Hits UK is the biggest of these playlists, with over a million followers. Often sales hits don't cross over to being streaming hits, this is usually the case for songs with an older target audience ('Love My Life' by Robbie Williams being a big example at the moment). Also keep in mind that it takes longer for a song to take off on Spotify than it would on iTunes.

 

What do the numbers mean?

 

The streaming figures cited in the daily chart are the number of streams each song received the previous day. Unlike the iTunes chart, Spotify is not a rolling chart so the numbers will only change once per day.

Which is less then 300 sales... If it can pass it tomorrow or before the end of the week it can be number 1 officially but still, super close.

After all those new tracks that came out on Friday, looks like DJ Khalid will be the only new entry, and probably old tracks from Ed Sheeran going back inside the 40 :nocheer: iSpy might just get a footing in the 40 as well, its gone a bit flat after all the NMF releases.

Nah, I think Kygo & Ellie and Charlie Puth will be top 40 too. Not sure about iSpy, I really thought KYLE would be top 40 last week but he was only #42.

Unfortunately, I can't see the new Katy Perry and Vamps top 40 this Friday. Sad week for new releases. :(

Yeah, it's a major shame those new releases didn't get their top 50 effects. Really annoying.
