Keisha Buchanan from the Sugababes has revealed she starved herself for a fortnight when she was a teenager and was in so much pain she thought she’d die.

She told the Sun recently: “When I was 16, for some strange reason, I didn’t eat hardly anything for about two weeks. I had a slice of bread a day, that was it.â€

“I was getting private tuition. My teacher had left the house and I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I was in pain for eight hours. I had to wait for my mum to come back.â€

“I tried to call an ambulance and reached for the phone but it dropped on the floor and I couldn’t move from the spot.â€

“I was screaming the house down, it was horrible. I thought I was going to die. I don’t know why I was doing it, I wanted a flat stomach or something like that.â€

Bandmates Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah agree they’re not going to be following the current skinny-skinny Hollywood fashion any time soon.

Heidi said: “This whole size zero thing really upsets me. I was at a hospital the other week and a lady came over and asked for an autograph for her 13-year-old daughter who was in a clinic with anorexia.â€

“It is so unrealistic. There are going to be loads of young girls now desperately trying to get to a size zero like all these Hollywood stars. It is so sad. It upsets me.â€

Amelle added: “I’m glad Beyoncé has put on a few pounds. I think men like women who have a bit of a bottom on them.â€

“Dieting is obsessive, it takes over your life thinking about what you can and cannot eat.â€
