Not a fan of any of the videos so far. Can see why they didn't receive any votes. I expect a few more didn't achieve any points?

This Used to Be My Playground // 0 Points

Director: Alek Keshishian

'This Used to Be My Playground' shows a man at a desk viewing a photo album. Inside are moving images of Madonna singing the song in various settings as well as clips from the film A League of Their Own. As with many Madonna videos that promote films, the content is quite basic, although a little bit of a storm was stirred after similarities with Boy George's 'To Be Reborn' video were picked up on, which Boy George himself claimed to be "furious" about in his autobiography.

Yeah, it's not one I'd have considered giving votes to but, as Spiceboy said, it is kinda cute and it is an entertaining watch.

Fever // 0 Points

Director: Stéphane Sednaoui

Renowned at the time for directing the wacky videos of Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Give It Away' and U2's 'Mysterious Ways', Stéphane Sednaoui creates a hallucinogenic visual for 'Fever'. Madonna appears in various styles, from being fully painted silver with her hair gelled forward to an ancient goddess-like figure with long gold nails. The bursts of colour, kaleidoscopic backgrounds and erratic camera work makes a slightly trippy experience, almost like a prequel to 'Bedtime Story'.

Fever is really one of her worst .

I'll Remember // 0 Points

Director: Alek Keshishian

'I'll Remember' shows Madonna singing the song in a recording studio. Her image is reminiscent of her previous video, 'Rain', with her bluish-black short hair and bright eyes and attentive camera work that aimed to enhance her facial beauty. Madonna is shown to be watching clips from the film The Honors - to which 'I'll Remember' soundtracks - as if to suggest she takes inspiration from it for her singing. The end of the video sees a suited Madonna watching herself recording the song, again showcasing that she does not conform to gender stereotypes and is in control of her beauty and her work.

Video here.

Sorry for the delay, I've not been feeling brilliant recently. Results will continue tonight, though!

Secret // 0 Points

Director: Melodie McDaniel

Sporting her new Jean Harlow-inspired image, 'Secret' features Madonna in a Harlem nightclub, sitting on the stage with her band as she sensually sings to her audience. These scenes are interspersed with those of daily life in the neighbourhood, recognising the different fashion and lifestyles of the community, as well as scenes of Madonna being baptised and finally embracing her lover and child. The video sparked discussion as to what the 'secret' could be, with the true answer remaining unknown as way to let the viewer make their own conclusions. It was also one of the first music videos to be made available to watch online.

I love the ambiguity of the video and its focus on Harlem culture. It's all very tasteful and classy and Madonna looks gorgeous. Bit of a shame it didn't receive any votes.

I Want You // 0 Points

Director: Earle Sebastian

Inspired by the Dorothy Parker short story 'A Telephone Call', the video for 'I Want You' shows an anxious Madonna waiting for a call from her lover. She contemplates ringing him first or allowing him to make the first move as a sign that he wants her as much as she wants him. As the video progress, Madonna gets increasingly unsettled, wriggling frustratedly on the bed and impatiently trying on all her wardrobe as means to distract herself. The ending sees the phone finally ring but, as Madonna lifts the receiver, she hesitates before eventually dropping it back into place. She then lifts the phone off the hook and leaves it lying on the bed to avoid receiving another call. It seems she finally realises she's better off without him instead of constantly waiting around.

I want you certainly deserved some points . I'm sure it would have done if it was a bigger hit. The song was not a single in many countries.

Was it even released anywhere? I read that the video got TV rotation but I thought there were legal issues regarding releasing the actual song so the record company just moved onto 'You'll See' instead.

I can't remember if it was release anywhere . Massive attack just had a successful year so I can see why the record company wanted to release it .

You'll see is far superior anyway.

Didn't they try go with LDLHA early for the album too ?

It didn't appear to chart anywhere. I do agree that 'You'll See' was the better choice, both as a song and from a commercial point of view. I like the idea of 'I Want You' being a promo song though with a video - something that Madonna should have done since and that I'm quite surprised she didn't ('Gang Bang' being the obvious one).

All I've heard regarding 'LDLHA' was that a UK release was planned but cancelled due to it flopping elsewhere in the world (and perhaps because 'One More Chance' didn't do too well either).

You'll See // 0 Points

Director: Michael Haussman

Sequel to the 'Take a Bow' video, Madonna has walked away from her bullfighter boyfriend but still finds it hard to escape him. Throughout the video, Madonna travels by train and plane with her former lover constantly on her tail, interspersed with scenes of Madonna on a park bench in a beautiful Autumn setting. We're also reminded of the love affair with flashbacks to the 'Take a Bow' video. A slight smile at the end signals her defiance has paid off.
