Here is one very interesting page about Placebo song meanings. I still didn't read all stuff there, but I definitely will. :D

36 Degrees:"supposedly this song is about the perfect temperature to have sex at"

^^I mean,omg :heehee:

Because I want you:"Anyway I think this song is about wanting to be with someone that you can't be with for whatever reason. However, Brian doesn't want to "give up on the dream" or "give up on the wanting", although he knows its probably impossible for him to get what he wants. But then again, this is the same guy who told us to 'protect him from what [he] wants"

^^yep,this is kinda confusing

Commercial for Levi:"Yeah I think its like about some dude that is like destroying his life with drugs and all that $h!t but the other guy cares about his druggie friend and wants him to change because he has been down that road once and that road was not the most pleasant road to take"

^^this is obvious,isn't it? :)

Infra-red:"well infa-red is a lform of colour that is past our vision of sight on the spectrum. So basically its something that is there, but cant be fully seen. Brian sings that he is infa-red, and that we cant hide, because its something we cant see, and we fear the unknown. the person in the song is running away from something they dont want to see or accept"

^^I agree with this.Kinda religious,isn't it?

And so on.I'll post more when I find something interesting.

You're welcome

Here's some more:

Blind:"i thought it was more about a break up. 'i know were broken' suggests that they were together. "i kno w i broke it" suggests that he broke them up or rather his actions drove his partner to leave.so it seems to me to be sayiing 'i love you i know you loved me once and i know i hurt you but please dont leave me i can make it work......make it up to you'"

^^this was an easy one :)

Come home:"For me this song is all about somebody changing. Two people were in love/are in love and one of them in the realtionship is just changing, and trying to be all these different people "throw yourself from skin to skin..." "Come home" is about the other partner just wanting this person to return to normal and be themself again".

^^I agree with this one. There were some more explanations about it,like it's song about taking drugs and alcohol.Yeah,it sounds logical comparing to their style in the beginning of their career, but I still agree with that poster which comment I took.

English summer rain:"I think it's about being bored or sexualy frustrated

"Always stays the same, nothing ever changes" seems to refer to monotomous boredom and receinving nothing new. The rain, I believe, refers to sex, and its stereotypical that it it always rains in England and is absolutly freezing and uncomfortable and stays the same".

^^an interesting one,I have to admit :D

I know:"for me it was always obvious that the song is about lust. "you love the song, but not the singer" means that you only desire the person, but without any further commitment. and "the past will catch you up as you run faster" means that you can't do things without thinking, because they can have fatal influence on your further life (for example you already have a boyfriend who you love and who would brake up with you if you cheated on him). so, there are two people who want to have sex and the desire is enormous, but they shouldn't do it"

^^this seems to be right.I understand it this way also :)

Kitsch object:For me, this song is about that sort of fan that is a little bit.. obsessive. The one's who take every word Brian says like the bible, latching on to him like a moss, because they feel he is the only one who understands them, who speaks for them, and who can ultimately help them. Brian, however, is not fond of these people much.

"With poetic/artistic liscence"

His references to this could be his way of trying to tell the fans that his work is sometimes more creative rather than autobiographical. His songs aren't necessarily based on actual events/periods in his life, or at least not to a full extent, so people should stop thinking he's great for having been through what they have been through or whatever. He doesn't want to take responsibility for anyone trying to live their life like he sings about; he is an artist, not an analyst.

"If your luck is dying, go and plant a tree"

Here, he is telling these fans to solve their problems another, more productive way. They shouldn't cling to his every word like above, but solve their own problems.

The lines about sneaking backstage are clearly about when the fans go a bit too far. These are followed by lines taken from Peeping Tom (Weightless, bare, faithless, scared), which is a song about stalking. Get the hint yet?

Ironically though, in this song he is advising people not to follow his advice... But that's Brian Molko for you!

^^okay, this was a long one.But I think it's really an amazing explanation.I mean,I've never seen that song in this way!I always thought that this song is about fashion or smth like that  :hithead:
