It's a shame she didn't get on board earlier, she probably could have had about three #1s with streaming during the 1989 era... It's still crazy that she doesn't have a UK #1 despite being a massive star.

What 3?

I suppose 'Blank Space' may have made it but I can't imagine what else? 'Shake It Off' peaked at #2 when she was briefly allowing her music to be streamed but it was still miles away from ever being #1.

Bad Blood would have probably been #1

Do we think Taylor will shake up the top 50 on Spotify tomorrow?

oh wow! great to see Taylor Swift's finally put her music back on Spotify, clearly she realises her chances of going to #1 with her comeback single are very slim if she's not on Spotify.

Yeah probably two then as I reckon Bad Blood (as Joe said) could have made it too. I forgot that she briefly allowed Shake It Off on to streaming but it still could have been a much longer runner too if she hadn't taken it off so quickly.

Lol at her putting it back on the day of Katy's new release though :drama:

Bad Blood stormed to #1 on iTunes with a big lead. It ended up at #4 because no streaming. I think with Spotify it would have been an easy #1.
I'm listening to all 5 albums on spotify today *.* Also I now finally know what Taylor songs were in my most played songs of 2014 as the playlist has made all the Taylor songs showable now her music is back on spotify!!! (SIO was just outside my top 20 despite only being on spotify for like a month  )
I really dislike Taylor, she makes good tracks but the only reason her albums have appeared on Spotify today is so it dents Katy. She is extremely petty and I hope karma comes back around for her, I ain't even a Katy fan.

I hadn't even thought about that!

That is a new low

and Katy made a diss track about Taylor and can't stop talking about her in interviews, meaning she is using her to get some attention as her singles are bombing. So how does that make Katy a better person? Taylor is simply responding to the bashing.

I read a theory a few weeks back that the whole "Katy v Taylor" thing was all actually manufactured by their management teams to give them both as much publicity as possible. No real beef between them, all fake just so they are the ones being advertised and their singles are marketed more. No doubt once Taylor returns she will have another diss track (see Bad Blood for version one) and will probably come up with another story countering Katy's and getting them both back in the news headlines. It's quite clever once you see past the ridiculousness of it ^_^

Are you serious? Taylor was the one who started it all and tried to drag Katy through the mud throughout the whole 1989 era, Katy has the right to come back and defend herself. Yes she made a diss track but what do you think Bad Blood is? At least Katy has came out and said she wants to move on and has tried to reach out to Taylor but Taylor ignored her calls.

I am not a fan of either, just enjoy some of their songs but to me Katy seems genuine and you get what you see, Taylor seems sly, manipulative and incredibly fake.

Katy was ASKED about Taylor, after staying quite for ages even though she was DRAGGED in Bad Blood. She said her side of the story and said she'd like to put an end to the feud. She really hasn't done anything extreme at all.
Well 1989 already went #1 on the album streaming chart back when it was added to Apple Music, will be curious how high it re-enters next week

The lead was 0.75 iirc

Taylor thinks she's above everyone else.

I really can't wait for the day she flops

Taylor might make some brief noise in the Spotify top 50, but with like, 0 sales she's hardly going to get new peaks.

(Let's not use derogatory terms for women, shall we?)

Regarding 'Shake It Off' having gone #1, funnily enough, it actually went #1 on the streaming chart but not the sales chart:

24/08/2014: #4 official, #3 sales

31/08/2014: #4 official, #3 sales

07/09/2014: #6 official, #4 sales

14/09/2014: #4 official, #3 sales

21/09/2014: #5 official, #2 sales

28/09/2014: #3 official, #3 sales, #3 streaming

05/10/2014: #3 official, #3 sales, #3 streaming

12/10/2014: #4 official, #6 sales, #1 streaming

19/10/2014: #2 official, #3 sales, #2 streaming

26/10/2014: #5 official, #5 sales, #2 streaming

02/11/2014: #3 official, #3 sales, #2 streaming

09/11/2014: #5 official, #4 sales, #49 streaming

16/11/2014: #12 official, #10 sales

I'd say it was more of a victim of the held-back singles era than anything. For example, when it reached #3 officially in its 6th week, it was behind 'Bang Bang' (debuting at #1 after months of pre-orders) and 'Changing' (debuted at #1 the previous week). Those 2 were only #14 and #16 on streaming that week, and only went on to reach #4 and #12 there.

I expect 'Blank Space' would've done really well on streaming, but I'm not confident it could've gone #1 as it was up against 'Thinking Out Loud' and 'Uptown Funk' (and many more short-lived sales hits), which were not only huge on streaming, but generally one of them was ahead of 'Blank Space' on sales. It might've had a shot on W/C 07/12/2014, where it was 2nd to Union J on sales, but it was only 135 copies ahead of 'Thinking Out Loud' there.

As for 'Bad Blood', it only debuted at #2 on sales, 644 copies short of 'Cheerleader' (#1 official, sales & streaming at the time), so it's not likely it would've debuted there. It overtook 'Cheerleader' on sales the week after, but that's when 'Want To Want Me' debuted at #1 with 100k+ units. A few weeks later, 'Want To Want Me' was still #1 with pretty low sales, but 'Bad Blood' had fallen behind 'Cheerleader' on sales.

But had her label decided to hold back any of those, she probably could've gotten #1 against almost anything.

Just so you know, there's a setting to display unavailable songs! On the desktop version it's here:

I think it's under Settings > Playback on the mobile version (within the app).
