Straight in from nowhere (because it's topping the US advert music charts, and I follow Nancy on twitter - legend!) it's Summer Wine from the same summer as Sgt Pepper, 50 years ago. Nancy & Lee just have a brilliant trippie back catalogue, cult faves over the decades without ever being huge as a duo - Lee was the gravel-voiced songwriter and producer, Nancy the sweet voice and groovy image. The song has topped my charts before, for The Corrs and Bono back in 2003, but the original is still the best, and gives them a first number one since Some Velvet Morning topped as an oldie in 2007 - I heard it blaring out from a boat at sea off the coast of Crete just after Lee died. Did You Ever was their first hit in 1971 in my charts, topping in 1977 as part of an EP, and Nancy also topped with her dad Frank (Somethin' Stupid), with a Lee song (Boots), and a Bond theme (You Only Live Twice).

Glen goes up with all of his tracks, notably 1977 hit, Guardians soundtrack, Southern Nights finally breaking into the top 10 (the ragtime retro track peaked at 17). The Killers are back with a fab single, new in at 12, love it, and also Queens Of The Stone Age, back after a gap of 14 years, and with only their 3rd (and highest-charting) best-to-date track. Also new: Sigala & Ella Eyre, London Grammar, Olly & Louisa.

Hi Jason :)

Yes, I'm also pleasantly surprised Glen's final studio album became his first ever top 10, though I think part of the reason would be the bonus Greatest Hits attached to it.

Loving that Killers song, Brandon never lets down, and Despacito is making my top 20 today - been a long climb, but it made it

Thanks!

Hi Toffo!

Glad you like Summer Wine, a big fave oldie of mine, and yay at Killers return! :cheer:

QOTSA, I think this is my fave ever track of theirs! :o

Lon don Grammar always quality, good to see them top the album chart and do well in Europe too.

Too Far Gone has a nice rhythm track to it, very Fleetwood Mac, which is why it's sneaked into my chart (which isnt surprising as Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are on it) :D The song is pleasant but not classic Mac though...

cheers!

Hi Tombo! Thanks for the selection, and yes I'm afraid I have been doing charts since the 70's  I suspect I hold the current world record for personal charts (if not of all-time), which is why I call myself a freak

I started in 1968 age 10, now and again, then weekly in 1971, and filled in the missing weeks as a teen later in the 70's while I still had a good idea what I loved back then. I've never stopped loving new music so just kept going really :o

That Abba track may well be my all-time fave Abba track, and probably one of my all-time top 20. Swish Swish is a grower, still sounding good, a bit of a shame it hasn't taken off more - though it at least did OK on sales. Less popular on streaming sites though, pah! :(

cheers

john B-)
