Posted October 16, 200618 yr Urban radio chart debuts Source; Music Week New urban and dance chart Fresh 40 will launch on October 22 and broadcast every Sunday between 4pm and 7pm across 12 commercial radio channels. The chart, fuelled by a significant growth in the urban music market, will be compiled from airplay and will air across youth radio brands around the country, including the Galaxy and Kiss Networks, on both analogue and digital platforms. Highlights of the show include the Top 10 Throwdown, a continuous non-stop mix of the top 10 records, and a mix-tape battle, where listeners vote between two tapes submitted to the show. The winner each week will have their track played in full on air. Independent production company Somethin’ Else will produce the show and it is estimated that 786,000 listeners will tune in each week. Frank, the national drugs information and advice service, is the official sponsor. The chart will provide listeners with interactive multimedia content, including the website www.fresh40.co.uk and texting platforms, as well as further brand extensions such as club nights, music download compilations and Wap sites. Kiss Network’s Andy Roberts says, "We are really looking forward to the launch of Fresh 40. It's about time the charts got re-invented and were made more interactive - this way the youth audience can really get into it." Fresh 40 is the third and final chart to be launched under the hit40uk umbrella, alongside mainstream singles chart hit40uk and artist chart The A-List.
