The bigger disgrace was Scared Of The Dark never making it there!

lol at no point was it ever a Hot Hit, let alone accessible for the streaming generation

What is a Scared Of The Dark?

the Steps single that got to #1 on iTunes for about 2 seconds and debuted at the dizzy heights of #37😩

I think it had obvious potential if it was given the right support/exposure. It showed, it was in the iTunes chart for nearly 2 months for a start.

would have been something different for it to get some support but unfortunately I could never have seen it happening

For unfashionable act who had not had a hit for 15 years to release a song with no publicity and go to no.1 for 2 days on i-tunes is hardly a flop the song spent three months in the i-tunes top 75 including many weeks in the top 10 when they did a publicity drive and it debutes in the top 10 of the sales chart.

Hardly a flop it was only streaming that let it down.

Yeah it was bigger than its peak and chart performance would suggest. I had it requested weekly for ages when DJing :o

Hot Hits UK newies:

36 Avicii - Without You (feat. Sandro Cavazza)

44 Marshmello - Silence (feat. Khalid) :cheer: :cheer:

47 Skrillex & Poo Bear - Would You Ever

50 Justin Bieber & BloodPop - Friends

Without You and Lonely Together both now on Hot Hits UK :cheer: Fab news. Also YAY at Silence, it's an absolutely fantastic song, please, please smash

What was the age bracket of people requesting it though? I have a feeling it would be mid-late 20s/30s rather than the teen/young adult audience (who are the main users of Spotify).

That's the point I was trying to make. The songs on Hot Hits UK are intentionally for teens/young adults (hence the large amount of grime and afrobeat on it these days), and Scared In The Dark is nothing like what a majority of people my age would like to listen to - so it'd never have happened let alone worked.

Your hunch is correct. I forget how the singles charts are skewed toward a younger audience. I suppose the album and tour ticket sales success reflects its popularity a bit better.

How often is Hot Hits UK updated? Really surprised to see they never added Little Mix & CNCO today.
