The Wonky Cross.... We presented that to him backstage at Culzean for his birthday. First time I quaffed champagne with Darius. The next time was a couple of months later, in the Banqueting Hall in London with its famous Ruben painted ceiling.

The other guy is his younger brother, Aria.

 

The leather jacket one was when they dressed the pop idols as their Idol. Darius was supposed to be Bono but he thought they made him more like Arnie so he did a impression of him "Hasta la vista's, Simon!

Aria is not a Persian King's name, was hoping that if he had a brother he would be called Xerxes or Cyrus!

 

Ah the leather jacket picture maybe isn't as bad as I thought it was on reflection, considering your explanation for it.

Excellent, so two are named after Persian kings! Poor Xerxes left out then, but his name is perhaps less fit for a modern person than Darius or Cyrus.

That was a good choice of photo from Megham. Nice too,to see the hair less severe as it has been in more recent times. I also among others elsewhere, liked the one in his book, -'serious look with eyelids closed 'looking 'downwards'. One of the best ever was when he was being interviewed on chat show (s.t.v.) and wearing his surgical collar,and tasting wines for show. Bestablished ever true likeness,and he looked stunningly beautiful! Amazing too on the interview for G.W.T.W. where the female journalist went down to London to do that interview ,which she was so excited about doing.He looked amazing in all the close up camera shots.Having said all that,strangely enough,I don't think Darius is particularly photogenic a lot of the time-either that,or its bad photography. Either way,so many of his photos do not do him justice. Good one from Megham,though.

 

The photos that the fans take are just Darius as you see him out and about. He's blessed with an almost flawless complexion and sweeping long eyelashes and something else.... I'd call it serenity, which seems to add a radiance beyond all that.

 

The first time I saw Darius up close, the only word I could use to describe him was beautiful. He quite simply was way beyond handsome.

 

I think professional photoshoots create the image their clients want. They treat the artists like models. Make up dulls down Darius's impact

instead of enhancing his looks.

Yes I knew that the Persians used that term to describe their ethnicity. The country name 'Iran' comes from that term. I used to wonder why Persia had seemingly changed its name to Iran on maps when it was called Persia on very old maps but upon research 'Persia' was only used by the Greeks to describe the lands of Iran (after the mythological hero Perseus) and the Persians always referred to their lands as Iran.

 

Sadly, the Nazis of course turned the term Aryan into a word with different connotations though.

 

Darius has a noble and kingly appearance and his quotes you posted show wisdom, he should buy an island and form a new small version of the Persian Empire there!

 

Yes Baytree. I agree hair needs a change now and then. He's got such a good head of hair!- even a compromise would do,letting a bit fall over the forehead,or something. Just a tad too neat and severe at the moment-although if anyone can carry the present look,Darius can! Talking about my previous reply about unflattering photos- no,I didn't specifically mean photos that fans have taken.That I can understand- I think the ones I thought were not good,were the 'Getty Images ' ones,which I would have thought should be good,and they were not.

I think that's why I liked megham's picture. Hair had to be short for Billy Flynn but just ruffling it up a bit is so much nicer.
