Posted October 17, 200618 yr The Arctic Monkeys have enjoyed critical and commercial success Chart-topping Sheffield band The Arctic Monkeys are leading the shortlist for this year's Q Awards, with a total of four nominations. The Mercury Prize winners are in the running for Best Album, Best Live Act, Best Track and Best New Act, which sees them up against Lily Allen. Muse are next in line with three nominations, including Best Album for Black Holes and Revelations. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 30 October. Attacked Muse's Best Album rivals include Kasabian (Empire), Keane (Under the Iron Sea) Razorlight for their self-titled album, and Snow Patrol (Eyes Open) as well as the Arctic Monkeys. Best Act in the World Today nominees are Muse, Coldplay - who scooped the title last year - Oasis, U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Oasis, Razorlight, Muse, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Arctic Monkeys are up for Best Live Act. At last year's awards, Yoko Ono attacked Paul McCartney's talents as a songwriter and in 2004 Sir Elton John launched a four-letter tirade against Madonna, accusing her of miming during her live performances I think The Arctics could win a couple this year. :o I think best live act is most likely I reckon though if The Arctics were to win an award.
October 18, 200618 yr Meh.. the Q awards are always so biased, but the Arctics should come away with a couple at least If whoever's voting has any common sense, Snow Patrol should come away with Best Album, Oasis or the Chilis should win Best Act in The World Today (But it'll probs end up being U2), and if Silly Allen's their tightest competition, then they shouldn't have any worries about winning Best New Act The Best Live Act award could go either way, as i've never really seen any of the acts listed live

Maybe the readers will aquire some sense this year. Let's face it, they ALWAYS vote for U2 no matter what they're up for <_<

Yeah it does. I just think that she's the type of artist that would do well at the Q awards, but your right it really does depend on who she is up against.

I think Orson are a good band but I agree that they don't win! I think it could be quite a close call and personally I would be glad for either Arctics, Lily, The Kooks or Orson to win. It's not that I dislike Corinne I just think the other artists are better. Ideally Arctics should win the award though!
October 21, 200618 yr Author Yeah I don't really think Orson are the type of band to win this award, I wouldn't mind them winning but I think The Kooks and The Arctics are far more deserving. :D Corinne is a nice lass, and I like the majority of her music but yeah i'd prefer The Arctics to win a lot more. ^_^

You just KNOW there'll be trouble.. ..which is why I must remember to set my Sky Plus that night so I don't miss anything :lol:
