That's the problem with it I think ... live it is an amazing song, but people who buy singles won't get to hear it live as often as we do and grow to love it ... it wasn't "ta-dahhhh!!" enough for a single, hence people finding it "boring" and not buying it...

Bring on single #2, I'm sure it'll do much better

Exactly right Andrew....it was far too "middle of the road"...just too bland for first single. Lucie deserves much better than 79...it's a disgrace quite frankly.
Has her new one done that badly?

Breathe In album chart run-

11-chart run missing for 3months-16-11-11-16-17-16-20-31-churt run missing for about 6 weeks-35-22-25-38

That is much of it as i could find. The first week is 16/10/2004. Then between 22/01/2005 and 12/03/2005

then finaly 30/04/2005 and the 21/05/2005. So it is Breathe In's journey of the top 40.

No...11 was the highest I believe! Her debut album did do very well, I hope 'The Same Side' can do just as well :D
and it went platinum which is excellent

Yeah it did good, especially considering it only had two hit [chartwise] singles.

that was because their was plenty of promotiion with those singles and ever from there hardly no promotion at all :(

Well that's because it's not as easy to promote anymore, there's hardly any Saturday morning music tele and so few other programmes that reach a vast audience and get people really interested.

The charts are also changing, it's not just down to promotion. Singles sales are rapidly falling and everything is moving into the digital age and many shops are withdrawing their sales figures in favour of creating their own placings. There's just not the demand their used to be. Music tastes are also sadly changing and singer/songerwriters such as Lucie are probably one of the least recognised groups of acts now.

what ever happend to CDUK i thought it was going to chanel 5 or was that a rumour???

i mean look at Beverly Knight, she only had 1 top 10 hit in her career i think lol and the rest was top 20/40 and shes got alot of Talent same as Lucie MOOOOOOOORE PROMOTION RECORD COMPANY

I totally agree, it's like I think about Delta's comeback and get far too scared.

She can't flop.

Anyway back on topic - I hope The Same Side has as much if not more success as Breathe In.

Although on first listen I really did not like The Same Side as an album at all, it's grown on me and now I much prefer it - although this is good that it's grown on me, the fact it wasn't instant worries me that more casual fans won't give it the second change/play.

Two

At the end of the day, the easy option is always to blame the record company. I will always defend Mercury for how they handled Lucie for the first album. They slowly built up her profile then launched her with a bang and gave her steady promotion. People may forget that while 'The game is won' may have flopped by Lucie's standards, the album climbed back up the week it was released! Mercury did a bloody good job on Lucie's debut album.

However, I reserve my judgement for the promotion of 'The same side'

they better F***in promote their pants off for the same side

Nice work Mister!

Breathe In the album, returned to number 11 on the chart a few times, 3 I think, each week I was so annoyed it didn't quite make the top 10!
