September 16, 20178 yr I was really hoping to see Jason Derulo playlisted today :( was Swalla ever added?? Swalla was never added due to the sexually suggestive lyrics. If I'm Lucky probably will get an add though if it does well.
September 16, 20178 yr Very, very strange decision... you'd think they'd eat it up given how 1) it's smashing, 2) the message is great and they'd support the message, and 3) it's VERY radio friendly.
September 16, 20178 yr Well 1xtra have playlidged it again so it is likely it could get playlist in the coming weeks.
September 16, 20178 yr R1 may not consider Logic's song to be 'radio-friendly' considering its lyrics are about suicide. It isn't on Capital's playlist either so it may be a valid theory (I personally think it is radio friendly but radio may not want to play a song with a controversial subject matter such as that).
September 16, 20178 yr I need them to playlist Cardi B :( It's really starting to blow up outside of The US
September 16, 20178 yr In no way is it radio friendly. I hope they don't playlist it. It's very much radio friendly imo, it's a positive uplifting song as opposed to being depressing (that Lil Uzi Vert song is much more depressing for example). The lyrical content isn't an excuse to snub it I don't think.

September 16, 20178 yr 1Xtra have re-added it this week, so a suitable radio version is there. Oh definitely, Radio 1 played it as part of the chart on Friday so they have a version they're happy to play at the very least. I know there's lyrics like "I don't wanna be alive" at the start but the progression of the lyrics justifies that imo, it goes from being depressing to actually quite uplifting.
September 16, 20178 yr In no way is it radio friendly. I hope they don't playlist it. How is it not radio friendly?! Why would you want a song, despite your opinion on it, that gives hope to people suffering with depression/mental health issues?! Think before you post next time. Seriously.
September 16, 20178 yr In no way is it radio friendly. I hope they don't playlist it. Well R1 playlisted XO TOUR Llif3 and that was even less radio friendly...

Think before you post next time. Seriously. It's a cute song with a strong message. However, I don't think it's suitable for Radio 1 because it could affect some listeners who have family or whatever who have had to suffer the pain of a loved one. The song is about suicide isn't it? Maybe think about posts rather than going for first thought.

It is about suicide, but more specifically, it's about reaching out to people and telling them there's another solution and they can seek help! Hence the title of the song being the American suicide prevention number.
September 16, 20178 yr That's the reason why I think it may not be suitable for Radio. Like I said, it sends a great message. I just think it may be difficult for some people to hear. I've heard it about three times and really struggled to listen to it all.
September 16, 20178 yr In a world dominated by vacous songs about petty squabbles, sex or other similar things, having songs with actual meaning in them is much needed and shouldn't be cast aside because they pack a punch. As someone who has lost someone to suicide, I was affected by hearing it, but not in a bad way. I was glad to see something like this being played on the radio. If it can reach even one person and stop them from doing something so final then its all worth it.

However, the meaning and message is so important. A lot of people find solace and seek support from Music and I'd hope this helps some who've previously felt unable to seek support.

This is almost as laughable as your explanation as to why Instruction wouldn't go Top 40 . I think R1 listeners can cope, people will find out about the song anyway if it becomes big which I'm sure it will.
September 16, 20178 yr There's nothing unsuitable about it. There have been much more risky song messages on the radio. Think about Stan, We Can't Stop...for example. Radio literally hammered a song that said 'I took a pill in Ibiza' in the opening line. The song is about helping with a struggle, it's not going to do anything more than reach out to some people.
