100. ARCTIC MONKEYS

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Arguably my favourite band, Arctic Monkeys suffer from being on hiatus for the last few years. Their 5th album 'AM' was a big favourite of mine and their three big singles from that one help them inch into the countdown.

99. SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA

No. of hits - 5 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Swedish House Mafia were a massive dance force at the beginning of the decade but their disbandment in 2012 mean they can't go much further. They were well known for their big euphoric floorfillers but it was the edgier Knife Party collaboration 'Antidote' that really took off on my chart.

98. NICOLA ROBERTS

No. of hits - 3 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

The definition of a "Marmite" vocalist, Nicola was always my favourite member of Girls Aloud for being something a little different to the other girls. Unfortunately we only got one album from her and there doesn't seem to be any sign of new material but as Nadine has recently proved - Never say Never.

97. STOOSHE

No. of hits - 4 (4 Top 10 hits

Biggest Hit

For a brief moment in time StooShe looked to be the next big British girlband - almost a new version of the Sugababes. These girls could sing and they were also diverse. Unfortunately they torpedoed their career with an ill-judged cover of TLC's 'Waterfalls' and quickly lost any credibility 'Black Heart' had gained for them. A shame.

96. ONEREPUBLIC

No. of hits - 6 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

OneRepublic are one of those bands that you forget about for a while until they come back with a massive hit - they struck big this decade with 'Counting Stars' but they've struggled to keep momentum up. However, there is no denying lead singer Ryan Tedder's ability as a songwriter.

95. THE VACCINES

No. of hits - 6 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

The Vaccines' brand of raucous indie rock is tremendous fun, even if they have slowed down a bit in recent years. They are an excellent festival band and rather weirdly their most famous song 'If You Wanna' didn't even chart on my chart.

94. NERO

No. of hits - 5 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Riding the wave of popularity of dubstep in the early part of the decade Nero scored a surprising official Number One with the almighty 'Promises'. Their second album couldn't quite adapt with the changing musical landscape although 'Two Minds' was an absolute banger.

93. USHER

No. of hits - 6 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Now into his third decade as an artist Usher keeps scoring big hits every couple of years a so. Surprisingly, it's the underrated 'More' that made the most impact on my chart due to my obsession with everything RedOne due to a certain other popstar...

92. GALANTIS

No. of hits - 4 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Galantis have the knack of distilling pure joy in a pop/dance song. The vocal effects may border on annoying but it's all part of their charm. If they manage to keep up their hit ratio you can expect them to move up the list in the next few years.

91. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Justin Timberlake may be seen as one of the biggest popstars on the planet but the long absences between releases damage him on this list. It's no surprises that 'Mirror's was his biggest hit on my chart - when he and Timbaland get it right they are untouchable. The less said about 'Can't Stop The Feeling' the better.

90. KIESZA

No. of hits - 3 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Obviously this placement is due to one MASSIVE single. She was always to be destined to be a flash-in-the-pan success with that unique voice. 'Hideaway' is still a banger, even if its glamour has faded a bit.

89. NATALIA KILLS

No. of hits - 6 (3 top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Probably the only place you'll see Natalia Kills in a top 100 list, this glorious flop started off as a Gaga clone before carving out her own identity. She served up two really rather good albums before the X Factor NZ debacle and is now releasing music under yet another moniker 'Cruel Youth'.

88. NEON JUNGLE

No. of hits - 4 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Well they didn't last very long did they. A bit of an alternative to your usual girlband, Neon Jungle had aggressive beats and a whole lot of attitude but failed to leave much of an impression. The double whammy of 'Braveheart' and 'Welcome To The Jungle' means they've earned their place though.

87. RUDIMENTAL

No. of hits - 6 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Rudimental are probably the most successful drum & bass act ever and their first album really was something special featuring the best of new British talent as the vocalists. Unfortunately for me, everything they've released since has left me cold and recent hit 'Sun Comes Up' is very generic and suggests they've somewhat lost their edge.

86. MAROON 5

No. of hits - 5 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Maroon 5's transformation into trend-chasing radio darlings has split people right down the middle. They've released plenty of singles during this period but so many didn't chart for being too annoying... although I actually detest their biggest hit 'Moves Like Jagger' now too.

85. CHRIS BROWN

No. of hits - 6 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Awful person, some decent bops.

84. DUKE DUMONT

No. of hits - 5 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

King of summer dance hits - it takes a special producer to make house music that doesn't age quickly and also adapts his sound without seeming genre-chasing. 'Won't Look Back' remains my favourite but it was his debut with A*M*E that made the most impact on my chart.

83. REBECCA FERGUSON

No. of hits - 5 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Rebecca is the first of 9 X Factor acts to show up on this countdown and is the most underrated of all of them. Her voice is so unique but quite often her material veers too far into mumsy/MOR territory when there is more potential on the upbeat stuff on the second album.

82. ROBYN

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Considering Robyn hasn't released an album since 2010 this is really quite an achievement. Of course it is the amazing 'Dancing On My Own' that makes up more than a 1/3 of her points (Calum Scott has a lot to answer for). Seriously release another album woman!

81. CARLY RAE JEPSEN

No. of hits - 4 (2 Number Ones/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

A surprising early exit for Buzzjack's favourite flop, I am sure Carly can work her way up this list.

80. JESS GLYNNE

No. of hits - 5 (2 Number Ones/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Sucessie Glynne makes a dent on this list with only one album under her belt. Obviously if you factored her collaborations in she would be a lot higher - but that was too much like hard work. If she survives the 2nd album curse for UK females she may keep working her way up this list.

79. DUA LIPA

No. of hits - 4 (1 Number One/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

And now our next two acts make this list before they even got their albums out. There was a period of time that it seemed like 'Be The One' was the biggest Dua would ever get before the mammoth 'New Rules' was unleashed and is guaranteed to mean that Dua will shoot up this list next year.

78. ZARA LARSSON

No. of hits - 4 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Here's Dua's closest competitor who just edges her this year. Lush Life was absolutely everywhere but Zara has struggled to keep up with it with every subsequent release being less successful. And as for launching the album with the forgettable 'So Good' - her A&R needs to be fired.

77. SUB FOCUS

No. of hits - 6 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

A bit of a surprise appearance here from dance/drum & bass artist Sub Focus who scored a run of top 10 hits with his second album - everyone should check out the featured video as 'Tidal Wave' is sublime.

76. GRIMES

No. of hits - 4 (2 Number Ones/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

My spooky alternative pop queen Grimes smashes into the charts. 'Art Angels' remains one of my favourite albums of the decade, it's just a shame I wasn't checking for her during the 'Visions' era otherwise she would be a lot higher.

75. EMELI SANDE

No. of hits - 6 (2 Number Ones/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Back in 2012 there was a period when Emeli Sande was absolutely inescapable and that is where the majority of her hits came from. Fearing overexposure she then took a lengthy absence which really affected her popularity - however there is no denying her voice or songwriting ability.

74. ALUNAGEORGE

No. of hits - 6 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

The slinky vocals of Aluna mixed with an alternative electronic production was a match made in heaven. The dancier material of the second album was a good change of direction but recent releases have been generic and forgettable.

73. MAJOR LAZER

No. of hits - 5 (2 Number Ones/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

No surprises there with their biggest track - 'Lean On' was really a cultural behemoth and made Major Lazer a household name. Their wide-ranging influences give their dancehall tracks a unique flair - they really misstep for me.

72. LEONA LEWIS

No. of hits - 7 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Poor Leona has suffered ever dwindling success and relevance since the turn of the decade as attempts to freshen up her sound didn't quite pay off - I however though 'Glasshouse' was her best album and 'One More Sleep' has already become a christmas classic for me.

71. HURTS

No. of hits - 8 (1 Number One/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Hurts was a very brief obsession of mine - it soon became apparent that they couldn't really evolve their sound although that debut album is still pop brilliance.

70. SCISSOR SISTERS

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

'Only The Horses' should have smashed - pure euphoria and a Calvin Harris production should have made instant success but it wasn't to be. I do sorely miss Scissor Sisters, quite arguably the gayest act to cross over into the mainstream.

69. NICK JONAS

No. of hits - 4 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

'Jealous' is such a tune - I really like his brand of sexy R&b-Pop but he never releases his best songs as singles - Teacher and Under You would have been better for his career. Oh, and he's absolutely gorgeous too.

68. MADONNA

No. of hits - 5 (2 Number Ones/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

It feels wrong to have a legend so low but truth be told, Madonna doesn't hit the same highs as she used to. I genuinely enjoyed the 'Rebel Heart' album but the less said about 'MDNA' the better...

67. DRAKE

No. of hits - 5 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Drake's blend of melancholy hip-hop is one that I've really got accustomed to. I actually can't listen to 'One Dance' anymore but 'Take Care' and 'Hold On, We're Going Home' are great sad-bangers.

66. CHASE & STATUS

No. of hits - 8 (5 top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

The masters of UK drum & bass have always kept their sound fresh by merging elements of house, rap and rock into their music. Unfortunately, everything from their latets album has left me cold.

65. KANYE WEST

No. of hits - 8 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

One of the most controversial figures of the decade, Kanye has in my opinion shaped hip-hop and introduced a whole alternative and electronic side to it. 'Yeezus' is one of ym favourite albums of the decade but Kanye is more of an albums artist than one with hit singles, which is why he doesn't do better here.

64. SIGMA

No. of hits - 8 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

One of those acts who keep pumping hits out with a bit of variation and big name collaborations to keep the interest there - I have no great love for Sigma, they're here due to a large amount of singles.

63. CHER LLOYD

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Um yeah. Not really sure how that one happened other than I REALLY loved that first album. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

62. THE VERONICAS

No. of hits - 5 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

It was so great to see The Veronicas return after a long absence with the beautiful 'You Ruin Me'. Then last year they released the brilliant 'In My Blood' and 'On Your Side' but there's been no news of an album since so I'm praying they're not stuck in label hell again.

61. MILEY CYRUS

No. of hits - 4 (2 Number Ones/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Bangerz. What an album. She should have released about 6 singles and skipped 'Adore You' entirely. She also should have capitalised on her notoriety and released another album in 2015 instead of whatever 'Dead Petz' was. Thankfully she's finally released 'Younger Now' so expect her to climb a little bit next year.

60. DIANA VICKERS

No. of hits - 6 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest Hit

Oh Diana, our alternative X Factor queen. Her "unique" voice divided the nation as did her "claw" but she served up a really good debut album. Unfortunately she sank without a trace and a more straightforward pop second album did nothing.

59. TOVE LO

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

SEX. DRUGS. DRINK. BOOBS. That pretty much sums up Tove Lo but by God do I love her.

58. COLDPLAY

No. of hits - 6 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

There's not many lists counting down the best of the decade where Coldplay wouldn't be top 10 but they are so hit and miss for me. I do appreciate the more pop-leaning sound they've adopted it but their songs frequently end up irritating me.

57. ADAM LAMBERT

No. of hits - 7 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Adam Lambert is literally the only male American Idol contestant worth anything (except maybe Adore Delano) and it is so refreshing to see a gay singer really embrace his camp side - it helps that his voice is literally incredible. Some of his material can be patchy but 'Ghost Town' should have been a worldwide number 1.

56. KELLY CLARKSON

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

And here comes the biggest Idol of them all. Kelly's long absences have damaged her here as well as the underwhelming 'Piece By Piece' album. 'Stronger' really did reignite her career and I am confident that she can smash again... just not with 'Love So Soft'.

  • Author

55. SAM SMITH

No. of hits - 6 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Oh here he is, Mr Dreary himself. The first ever homosexual Sam Smith. I actually liked his debut before radio drove his songs into the ground and he lowered his tempo to a funeral march. Don't expect to see anything from his second album on my charts.

54. DEMI LOVATO

No. of hits - 7 (2 Number Ones/3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Demi would likely be a lot higher if she had more than one decent song per album. I always see her as the American Jessie J but less annoying - and at least she has the massive bop 'Cool For The Summer'.

53. JLS

No. of hits - 8 (4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

JLS actually had a decent run of singles with a couple of clangers aside (The Club Is Alive - I'm looking at you). It was super refreshing to have a dancing boyband and they knew when to call it quits while remaining friends.

52. JESSIE WARE

No. of hits - 6 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

One of the most underrated British acts of the moment Jessie adds a bit of sass and soul to the ballads market and does a mean uptempo too. Her current album might be a bit beige but there is no doubting her talent.

51. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS

No. of hits - 5 (1 Number One/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

One good run of singles before crashing and burning. I can't even imagine listening to a Macklemore song bar 'Same Love' these days so that shows how quickly they aged.

Half way through!

50. THE WEEKND

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

I always see The Weeknd as a male Lana - prolific with a distinct soundscape but there's always something to draw you in. His flirtation with pop and collaborations with Daft Punk and Max Martin have been successful so I'm always looking forward to seeing what he does next.

49. BASTILLE

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Well it was only always going to be that song, wasn't it? 'Pompeii' has always threatened to overshadow anything else Bastille have released and indeed they struggled with their sophomore album - it looks like the public moved on fast.

48. KYLIE MINOGUE

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/4 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Pure euphoria distilled in a song right there. Kylie's had a rough decade with 'Aphrodite' being an artistic triumph... and 'Kiss Me Once' being the opposite. It seems like she's releasing again next year so I hope she's switched it up a bit and doesn't serve up anything as atrocious as 'I Was Gonna Cancel'.

47. CHVRCHES

No. of hits - 8 (3 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

The little band that could. CHVRCHES two albums are perfect examples of electropop fused with 80s influences and it's always good to see them loved on the forum and build up their mainstream popularity.

46. will.i.am

No. of hits - 7 (5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Christ.

  • Author

45. PALOMA FAITH

No. of hits - 8 (6 top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

I'm very surprised that the biggest hit wasn't 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' actually. Paloma is a very consistent performer although she is more of an albums artist for me. Expect her to be a bit higher next year after the release of her fourth album.

44. TINIE TEMPAH

No. of hits - 10 (1 Number One/5 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Whatever happened to Tinie's brilliance on his debut album? Every subsequent release has become more derivative and generic. He is probably the biggest rapper in the UK but Stormzy is quickly catching up.

43. DISCLOSURE

No. of hits - 8 (7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Disclosure's debut album is a masterclass in soulful house music. In fact they are the only act that can make Sam Smith listenable for me. It's a shame that they seem to have gone on hiatus as their second album still had some gems, including the Lorde collaboration 'Magnets'.

42. DJ FRESH

No. of hits - 8 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Purveyor of floorfillers that unfortunately age very quickly apart from the excellent 'Hot Right Now' and 'Gold Dust'. I would be surprised to see him on my chart again.

41. THE WANTED

No. of hits - 10 (1 Number One/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

'Glad You Came' is such a banger that it almost makes up for some the dross they released towards the end of their career. Nobody's exactly clamouring for a Wanted reunion are they?

  • Author

40. FOXES

No. of hits - 9 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

A bit of surprise to see here - I've never felt that Foxes has got the success she deserves. 'Body Talk' is such a massive banger but so is 'Cruel' and 'Glorious' so I really hope that she can somehow fight the flop and get a third album out.

39. FIFTH HARMONY

No. of hits - 6 (2 Number Ones/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Releasing my favourite song from 2016 will get you high on this list - 'Work From Home' was drenched in sex which is pretty much everything I want from a girlgroup. It's a shame that Camila left because it seemed like they were building into something massive and their third album campaign has been a bit of a disappointment.

38. BRUNO MARS

No. of hits - 8 (7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Bruno has mastered the art of nostalgia music - throwing back to certain eras and updating it. Sometimes he masters it like 'Locked Out Of Heaven' - others it's horrifically cheesy like 'When I Was Your Man'. Definitely a chart force to reckon with.

37. P!NK

No. of hits - 7 (1 Number One/7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Before her massive comeback this year it had been about 4 years since P!nk last dominated my chart and I presumed she would just continue to slip down the rankings. That doesn't look likely now!

36. ADELE

No. of hits - 6 (1 Number One/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

In most official lists I'd guess she'd be in the top 5 but she still does quite well in my list. I'm not as obsessed as the rest of the world as I do prefer her slightly more upbeat moments - 'Rolling In The Deep', 'Send My Love'. etc but their is no denying her exceptional talent and hilarious personality.

  • Author

35. OLLY MURS

No. of hits - 11 (7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

You can't deny his longevity - he's way passed the X Factor male curse and has at least one great song per album. I think he'll be around for a while yet and just transform more into an albums artist.

34. RITA ORA

No. of hits - 7 (1 Number One/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

She may have struggled to get a second album out but there is not stopping Rita racking up the hits. I just find her really likeable and she has been lucky in getting her hands on some great song. SPOILER: 'Anywhere' is currently number one in my chart so expect her a lot higher next year.

33. JENNIFER LOPEZ

No. of hits - 8 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

No-brainer for her biggest hit there - 'On The Floor' was something of a career renaissance for her although the effects have seem to worn off now. I would be surprised to see her hit big again but with Latin influences being the flavour of the month I won't completely rule her out.

32. JASON DERULO

No. of hits - 12 (7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Every time you think Jason Derulo is done, he will pop up again with another mega smash. Although his quality control isn't great, there's no denying his absolute bangers - 'Talk Dirty' and 'Want To Want Me' are unbeatable.

31. SELENA GOMEZ

No. of hits - 10 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

I've combined both 'Selena Gomez & the Scene' and her solo career as they're practically the same anyway. The original whisper queen has somehow been part of some absolutely massive bops over the years and seems to go from strength to strength while her Disney compatriots seem to be a bit messier.

  • Author

30. CLEAN BANDIT

No. of hits - 7 (3 Number Ones/7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Combining elements of classical music and house has proven to be a winning formula for Clean Bandit who churn out hits like no tomorrow. They usually have inspired vocal features and have a gift for distilling melancholy and euphoria into their songs.

29. YEARS & YEARS

No. of hits - 7 (6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Another great band to emerge this decade, Olly really is a great figurehead for LGBT in music - he embraces his sexuality and it is a big part of their success. It helps that they write massive pop choruses as well. I'm praying they don't fall victim to the 2nd album curse.

28. ALEXANDRA BURKE

No. of hits 6 (5 Number Ones/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Looking at the amount of those number ones, it seems like I was a big Alexandra fan at the beginning of the decade. I still think she was one of the best things to come out of the X Factor and her wasted potential is painful. A combination of bad management and a disastrous guest judging appearance killed her career but she seems to be winning over the public again on Strictly...

27. SIA

No. of hits - 9 (3 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Sia was an alternative queen for a good decade before she turned her insane talent to pop music and became a megastar of her own. Possibly the most in-demand songwriter in the world, she keeps the best stuff for her self and her unique voice (if sometimes impossible to understand) really sells her songs.

26. JUSTIN BIEBER

No. of hits - 8 (1 Number One/7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Possible the biggest comeback in the last decade, Justin managed to make the transformation from bratty child start to world-conquering megastar. Sure, he's still a total idiot but he mostly has the material to back him up.

25. EXAMPLE

No. of hits - 10 (3 Number Ones/7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Yeah he doesn't deserve this to be high but he is responsible for the soundtrack to many nights out during my time at university. Unfortunately the hits trailed off and he hasn't been seen for a couple of years now.

24. NICOLE SCHERZINGER

No. of hits - 7 (3 Number Ones/6 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Another surprising one, Nicole has everything it takes to be a megastar - except the actual material. 'Killer Love' is a decent pop album as the singles run proves but my god 'Big Fat Lie' was an utter disaster.

23. IGGY AZALEA

No. of hits - 8 (3 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Iggy had such a run of smashes that it looked like she would be a massive star. Unfortunately it all kind of fell apart as she proved to be somewhat problematic and her success disappeared in an instant. At least we'll always have 'Fancy'.

22. KATY B

No. of hits - 10 (2 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Katy B emerged as a cool new British female and rode her way through different elements of dance music - garage, house, drum & bass etc. But she really turned it around with 2014's 'Crying For No Reason'. Her last "mixtape" was a flop but I've got my fingers crossed she can return soon.

21. KESHA

No. of hits - 9 (1 Number One/7 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Up until this year I had given up on Kesha ever releasing another album due to her legal troubles but thank god I was proven wrong. All her entries are from her first two albums which have unfortunately aged pretty badly but at least her resurgence will propel her up again.

Into the top 20!

20. ARIANA GRANDE

No. of hits - 8 (3 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Ariana broke through with 2 marvellous albums - 'Dangerous Woman' really is a thrill ride from start to finish. Obviously the courage with which she dealt with that awful concert (which I attended and still struggle to get over) has elevated her and she has a great platform to do something wonderful with the next era. But 'Into You' - what a banger.

19. CHARLI XCX

No. of hits - 9 (4 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

In my eyes, Charli is one of our generation's best pop songwriters - she also has an essential pop voice - distinct, unique and full of character. I could murder her label from keeping all sorts of bops from us as she continues to struggle to get her third album out but at least we got this year's flawless mixtape 'Number 1 Angel'.

18. FLORENCE + THE MACHINE

No. of hits - 12 (1 Number One/11 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Florence is the new coming of Kate Bush, except with a more powerful voice and a faster tempo. All 3 of her albums are beautiful pieces of work, if sometimes a bit noisy, but she's carved her own unique place in the British music landscape.

17. DAVID GUETTA

Does this man ever stop? I'm sure he's charted at least one single every year on my chart since 2008. His taste ratio isn't great as he's released a lot of stinkers but there doesn't seem to be any sign of him slowing down as 'Dirty Sexy Money' entered my chart this week.

15. LANA DEL REY

No. of hits - 11 (2 Number Ones/10 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Lana has released 3 of my favourite albums of the decade which is something of an achievement (sorry Honeymoon). Her storytelling and mood-creating is flawless and yes her banger ratio is appalling but she always has me twirling around my bedroom.

14. CHERYL

No. of hits - 10 (3 Number Ones/9 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Classic case of great singles, awful albums. You know that every album campaign will start with an almighty bang and then fade into a whimper. 'Call My Name' remains my favourite and I am intrigued to see where she goes next.

13. BRITNEY SPEARS

No. of hits - 9 (5 Number Ones/8 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

Oh Britney. Perhaps the owner of the best pure pop back catalogue, most of the time she now looks like she doesn't want to be there. She is still capable of bangers as her surprisingly good last album proved. Let's just forget about Britney Jean shall we?

12. BEYONCE

No. of hits - 14 (4 Number Ones/12 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

All the Big Pop Girls are making their impact now. Successfully transforming from a major pop star into a critically acclaimed artist Beyonce has now achieved legendary status. Both her self-titled album and 'Lemonade' were astonishing triumphs - she may not have the chart-friendly bops anymore but the records are so much more interesting and powerful now.

11. TAYLOR SWIFT

No. of hits - 11 (5 Number Ones/11 Top 10 hits)

Biggest hit

'Red' was a major turning point in Taylor's career - who knew the quiet blonde Country girl had such life-altering bops. And then the incredible '1989' completed her transformation into a megastar. Obviously everything has got a little messy since there but the bops are still there for the most part.
