December 14, 20177 yr Author The final stretch! 10. NICKI MINAJ No. of hits - 14 (4 Number Ones/10 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 4JipHEz53sU Saying Nicki's work is prolific is an understatement. 3 full albums + reissues and countless features mean that she's been everywhere since the beginning of the decade. Straddling the line between pop and rap, I still think her best work is ahead of her and I'm just praying for a less messy campaign this time. No more 'Starships' please. 9. ONE DIRECTION No. of hits - 14 (3 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit T4cdfRohhcg As far as boybands go, One Direction actually had decent material - only 'Midnight Memories' and 'You And I' failed to chart and I still like them. Their solo careers have had various success but at the moment it seems that Zayn is the most likely to end up on this list in the future. 8. MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS No. of hits - 11 (6 Number Ones/10 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit n1VTcJfL7RE I am a massive Marina fan - I think she is one of the most intelligent pop songwriters of the decade and possesses one of the most unique voices. All 3 albums are great but I do wonder that she's started to lose her spark a little bit. 7. THE SATURDAYS No. of hits - 12 (3 Number Ones/12 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit KdtIfp7WB0w I like Big Pop Choruses and girlbands, ok?! 6. ELLIE GOULDING No. of hits - 15 (2 Number Ones/13 Top 10 hits) rNpBahr49mA Ellie started off really promising as an indie/electronic singer with really interesting songs - 'Starry Eyed', 'Under The Sheets' and 'Anything Could Happen' were all incredible. Then 'Burn' happened and she turned into the most annoying and beige popstar in the UK. Here's hoping she can turn it around.
December 14, 20177 yr Author 5. LITTLE MIX No. of hits - 15 (7 Number Ones/15 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit MkElfR_NPBI The X Factor really struck gold here. It's not often a girlband hit their peak 3 albums in but Little Mix continue to defy expectations scoring hit after hit, selling out tour after tour. I'm just praying they take a little break so they're able to continue, unlike literally every other girlband. 4. CALVIN HARRIS No. of hits - 16 (2 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 17ozSeGw-fY Calvin Harris managed to make the transformation from slightly geeky electronic producer to the world's biggest DJ by the simple power of bangers. A number of great vocalists has helped over the years but just as the formula was getting way past the sell-by date, he switched it all up with this year's album. 3. KATY PERRY No. of hits - 14 (3 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 0KSOMA3QBU0 The 'Teenage Dream' era was one of pop's most successful, effortlessly scoring smash after smash each with its own memorable video. 'Prism' wasn't quite as great but it did at least unleash the massive 'Roar' and 'Dark Horse'. I like Katy because she isn't embarrassed to be pure pop and has all the colourful gloss that goes with it. 2. LADY GAGA No. of hits - 13 (11 Number Ones/13 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit EVBsypHzF3U And so here is my favourite artist of all time. Look at that hit rate! I've liked pretty much everything she's ever released (apart from Cheek To Cheek obvs) but looking back ArtPop was the weakest of her albums. 'Joanne' showed such artistic development that I can't wait to see where she goes next. 1. RIHANNA No. of hits - 20 (7 Number Ones/18 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit pa14VNsdSYM It was never going to be anything else but this commercial juggernaut. Even though the days of RiRi releasing an album a year have gone, her insane amount of iconic hits and then last year's creative peak 'ANTI' cemented her position as queen of the decade. But will it last?
