October 19, 200618 yr Author haven't thought about them in years. Was a mild fan years ago and my long time best friend loves this band.... they sound like something i need to get? as they seem to be a kind of band who came before rammstein in that kind of european music lineage. do you know which would be the best albums of theirs to get. also the residents. are they the big eyeball people (or are they the replicants??)? anyway mw says the residents got an album called tweedles coming out recorded in transylvania about emotional vampires. but nothing about having an eyeball for a head. (havent got time to search at the mo) are they the same kinda thing?

October 19, 200618 yr Author If you like Laibach then you should give the likes of Nitzer Ebb, Young Gods, Front 242 or KMFDM a go.... well you beat me to the next question.  whats the front 242 record where the girl has an eggshell for a head??? and where is it from?
October 20, 200618 yr Right - here's my recomendations on Industrial picking the best album of each. Please note I'm out of touch with the music these days but was quite a fan 10+ years ago and these are the classics. I recently joined an industrial board and said I liked the below and asked what I missed in the last 10 years... nothing that was recommended did I care for tho! Have seen most of these acts live and many remain some of the best gigs I've ever been to. KFMDM on the Money tour remains in my top 5 ever gigs in fact! Musts: KMFDM (Naive) and Ministry (The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste) Shoulds: Front 242 (Front by Front), Skinny Puppy (Haus der Luege), Throbbing Gristle (20 Jazz Funk Greats), NIN (Broken/Fixed - the more industrial albums he did), Einstürzende Neubauten (Haus der Luege) On the outside depending on tastse: Laibach (Opus Dei), Pigface (), Nitzer Ebb (), Front Line Assembly (Reclamation), Revolting Cocks (Beers Steers and Queers), 1000 Homo DJ's (Supernaut - had to add this, prob my favorite industrial cover), Coil (Love's Secret Domain), Young Gods (L' Eau Rouge), Klute (Excluded)
October 20, 200618 yr Author Throbbing Gristle (20 Jazz Funk Greats), there was a review about this band/psychic tv in the guardian guide the other week which had genesis p-orrange on stage with his boobs out. so has this genesis bloke (think he discribed himself as a polymorth rather than just a tv) always been so artistic and totally way out of the mainsteam??? the guide had him down as the godfather of industrial music.
October 20, 200618 yr Author 1000 Homo DJ's (Supernaut - had to add this, prob my favorite industrial cover), is that cover as in song or in front cover?
October 20, 200618 yr the guide had him down as the godfather of industrial music. yes - one of the leading forces back in the day for sure, hence me putting them on the list i made (but the album I listed is easiest on the ears for people new to them). Saw them at ATP last year and was... interesting... is that cover as in song or in front cover? cover is pretty boring (just a copy of the black sabbath cover actually). It's the song... and below is a taster (couldn't find whole mp3). This is an Al Jorgensen Off-shoot as is Revolting Cocks (singer from Ministry). He had a brief stint in Pigface too (Pigface was always an industrial 'supergroup' that would gather 5-8 industrial musicians, make an album and tour. rinse repeat). http://www.emp3world.com/mp3/60143/1,000%2...20Djs/Supernaut Edited October 20, 200618 yr by IndiElectronica

Holger Czukay is the man who is oft credited with being the 'godfather' of Industrial... There's not very much in the way of 'proper' Industrial today, it's all gotten mixed in with Techno and Dance and become EBM (Electro Body Music) or 'Cyber Goth'... And while a good few of these acts are pretty damned good, a true Rivethead (Industrial Fanatic) would balk at calling any of 'em Industrial.... But a couple of good modern Industrial bands - Leech Woman and Panic DHH; Katscan are a good 'half-way' house for propelling yourself into the more EBM/Cyber camps....
October 21, 200618 yr Author Good list there mate, but shame on you for missing out Can and Faust.... Cubanate were pretty good as well.... Holger Czukay is the man who is oft credited with being the 'godfather' of Industrial... i dont know who they actaully are, but those are names that come up in things like the guardian when they are doing v avant guard type stuff. are they german from the 1970s, is that the right people? a bit like a less 'pop version' of kraftwerk???

Thay were part of Krautrock and I suppose influenced the industrial scene. They used all sorts of musical styles including drones, feedback, world music to creat an avant-garde hodgepodge that was glorious. Faust were part of the same scene which also included Neu who were also great.

October 26, 200618 yr not heard enough of either to make a comment. I was obviously only into industrial for about 5 years. Even Throbbing Gristle I just heard much of in the last few years.. saw them at ATP and was... interesting!

October 27, 200618 yr was halfway their with t*ts already. He is a VERY WEIRD man for those who do not know him.. MAY go see Damo Suziki on nov 2 (http://www.wegottickets.com/event/13153). Really want to see Early Years (post-rock/indie) band I've been raving about for months since I saw them open for electralane. Problem is I am going to fabric the 3rd and then tapes & tapes on the 4th in oxford... thinking i don't need another concert in that few days as will be too much :(
