Yes to the twins and squeaky voiced teen!

Hehe, glad you approve of my inclusions! The Van Houtens are iconic tho!!

Squeaky Voiced Teen is funny

Fun Fact: Did you know that Sherri and Terri were inspired by the Grady twins from The Shining

I did know that but only since the other day when I was trawling through Simpsons Wiki for some fun facts  I've never seen The Shining :o

Kirk should be much higher!

It's tough when you still see what's to come. The Simpsons just has SO many iconic characters :drama: :o

Lunchlady Doris have you got any grease

Yes, yes we do

Then grease me up woman

Oakie dokie.

Groundskeeper Willie *.*

56. HANS MOLEMAN

Hans Moleman (actual name being Ralph Melish) is one of those side characters who is more of a running gag rather than ever being a main character. He usually just shows up, gets hit by something and then shows up later completely unscathed

giphy.gif

57. DOLPH

Dolphin "Dolph" Starbeam (on the right in this gif) is one of the bullies in Springfield Elementary. I've put him slightly lower in my countdown because I feel like he gets less attention than Kearney, Jimbo and Nelson. He never really gets to speak as much as the other three so it seems like we know less about his character.

giphy.gif

58. MONA SIMPSON

Mona Simpson is Homer's mother but she didn't first make a proper appearance (she was in flashbacks beforehand) until Season 7 in the episode "Mother Simpson". This is one of my favourite Simpsons episodes as it really tugs at your heartstrings as well as making you laugh. Mona was actually voiced by Glenn Close for multiple episodes but the character is now deceased in the Simpsons universe so we probably won't see much more of her again :(

giphy.gif

59. JASPER BEARDLY

The appropriately named Jasper Beardly is the one with the really long beard who appears in the Springfield Retirement Home alongside Abe Simpson and friends. The best moment of his is probably being temporarily frozen in the Kwik-E-Mart's freezer and becoming a tourist attraction

giphy.gif

60. KANG & KODOS

Kang & Kodos are alien siblings that often appear in Treehouse of Horror episodes and are quite intent on destroying Springfield. It's a shame we don't get to see much of them outside of those Treehouse of Horror episodes because they are a lot of fun and bring something a bit different to the Simpsons universe.

Hans Moleman and Jasper  The old people on The Simpsons are the best, very few other shows that do stereotypes as well as The Simpsons. Do love Kang and Kodos as well.

(I'm gonna assume Sea Captain isn't still to come, he is so underrated :()

Kirk above Luann, justice for him :cheer:

Squeaky voiced teen, Hans Moleman (), and Jasper <3

Two characters here reminding of when Simpsons does HEARTBREAKING brilliantly. Basically everything to do with Mona is such, but Moaning Lisa is one of the most heartbreaking episodes ever :snif:

The scene where Homer is sat on the car at the end when Mona left for the first time that does get to you.

Yeah, I must admit that the scenes in the Retirement Home are some of my favourites in any Simpsons episode. Abe especially is such a fave

Do not fret, Chez! Sea Captain is still to come!! :o

It was hard to split Kirk & Luann tbh, both are pretty hilarious but I do prefer some of the other Springfield couples (Hibberts, Wiggums, Lovejoys, Flanders etc.) to be honest :o

Moaning Lisa is genuinely one of my favourite episodes ever, it hits you right in the feels

The scene where Homer is sat on the car at the end when Mona left for the first time that does get to you.

I think Mona leaving is the closest I've come to crying at a Simpsons episode

Thanks for the comments guys!!!

51. MRS HOOVER

Elizabeth Hoover is Lisa's teacher at Springfield Elementary and hates her job like most teachers that work there. She's not in it as often as Mrs Krabappel or Skinner so is a fair bit lower in my countdown but her lack of enthusiasm always makes me chuckle.

giphy.gif

52. DR NICK RIVIERA

Dr Nick is another of the doctors in Springfield but is not as qualified as Dr Hibbert. This is a bit of a catchphrases batch as Nick is famous for saying "Hi Everybody!" a lot  On a side note, I have fond memories as a child of being so frustrated on the monkeys level in The Simpsons Hit & Run game too which involved him. Also, he is a bit of a daddy tbh :heehee:

tenor.gif

53. DUFFMAN

Barry Huffman (aka Duffman) is the mascot for Duff Beer. He's one of the more over-the-top characters in the Simpsons universe, constantly referring to himself in third person, using the catchphrase "Oh yeah!" a lot and thrusting his pelvic region a lot

giphy.gif

54. TROY MCCLURE

McClure is a washed-up movie actor who takes any role or offer for a pay check nowadays. He doesn't often appear outside of a short TV clip or something but he's one of those minor characters that the show would really miss if he didn't exist. The character has now been retired from the Simpsons universe alongside Lionel Hutz after the death of the voice actor, Phil Hartman.

55. RAINIER WOLFCASTLE

I said earlier in the countdown how Drederick Tatum was a fun parody of Mike Tyson but Wolfcastle appears much more frequently as a parody of Arnold Schwarzenegger which why he is so much higher in the countdown. It's always fun to see him be in cheesy action films as McBain or be involved in politics as a parody of Schwarzenegger's real life career

Omg Dr Nick is one of my personal faves

Same! I wish he was a more prominent character :(

Troy Mclure is FARRRRR TOO LOW!!1 Everytime he's on screen it's hilarious. His movies with Timmy are the best

Dr Nick a classic too ~

I totally agree with you that his films with Timmy are fab, you'll see how hard it is to rank when you see what amazing characters are left to come :drama: :drama: :drama:

Hans Moleman and Dr Nick are funny.

Troy McClure is also entertaining. May Phil Hartman rest in peace

Phil Hartman was a very talented voice actor, a big shame we couldn't have many more years of his iconic characters :(

Thanks for the comments guys!!

46. DR HIBBERT

Dr Hibbert is the more reliable of the doctors in Springfield and is the family doctor of the Simpsons family. He's quite light-hearted and often seen laughing and joking with his patients. He is a nice guy but not one of the funniest Springfield citizens so I couldn't justify putting him much higher.

giphy.gif

47. LOU & EDDIE

Lou & Eddie are police sergeants in the Springfield Police Force that work below Chief Wiggum. Lou is the brains of the trio whereas Eddie isn't all the intelligent and they make a pretty rubbish team really often letting the criminals get away. They're a fun team but Wiggum is obviously a bit more developed so he's much higher in the countdown.

giphy.gif

48. SUPERINTENDENT CHALMERS

Chalmers is the superintendent of Springfield's school district so is often seen overlooking teaching quality levels at Springfield Elementary where he is able to use his catchphrase "SKINNERRRRR!" frequently as there always seems to be something bad going on there. A bit like Dr Hibbert, he doesn't provide THAT many laughs which explains why he is slightly low.

giphy.gif

49. JIMBO JONES

Jimbo is yet another bully from Springfield Elementary. It was tough to rank these guys but I feel like he is probably the one we see most from aside from Nelson and is almost like the second-in-command so I've put him one place higher than Kearney and a bit higher than Dolph who doesn't seem to speak much :heehee:

tumblr_oj3e7kBjzI1vbcnq8o1_500.gif

50. KEARNEY ZZYZWICZ

Kearney is one of the school bullies at Springfield Elementary (despite being 23 years old, he's still there due to being held back a lot ) alongside Jimbo, Dolph & Nelson. He is a bit older than the others so can drive and actually has a child in some episodes!

41. AGNES SKINNER

Agnes Skinner is the sharp-tongued mother of Springfield Elementary Head Teacher, Seymour Skinner. She's frequently seen controlling Skinner like a little child or just generally terrifying Springfield residents. He bitter humour and blunt take-downs are some of the best one-liners in the show

giphy.gif

42. BUMBLEBEE MAN

Bumblebee Man is probably most known for popping up every so often with his catchphrase "Ay, ay, ay!". He usually appears in TV skits with an exaggerated Spanish accent and a silly bee costume. I can't really think of any major plots that I've seen containing him but he's always a fun background character.

giphy.gif

43. SNAKE

Snake is a criminal in Springfield that is notorious for always getting in trouble and never doing much jail time for it. He probably would've been a bit higher if I ran this countdown a few years back but I feel like I haven't seen an episode involving him in aaaaages now which is a shame but it's probably just because I'm watching the wrong episodes.

giphy.gif

44. MANJULA NAHASAPEEMAPETILON

I guess Manjula would probably be a bit lower on most people's countdowns but I've always found her pretty hilarious in the small moments she gets to shine. The Nahasapeemapetilon family in general are always very funny so I do think she's pretty underrated :(

giphy.gif

45. HELEN LOVEJOY

Helen Lovejoy is another of the housewife type characters who often pops up in scenes alongside the others such as Marge, Luann & Maude. She is one of the more gossipy characters in Springfield and known for her catchphrase "Will someone please think of the children?". She's not as prominent as Reverend Lovejoy really but I do enjoy seeing her in episodes.

36. SIDESHOW MEL

Sideshow Mel is often seen alongside Krusty the Clown as his current sidekick on his TV show. He's most well-known for speaking in an exaggerated Shakespearean accent even in everyday life as well as his trademark blue hair and bone combo. You can always rely on him for a good one-liner every so often.

giphy.gif

37. ITCHY AND SCRATCHY

Perhaps two of the most iconic characters in Simpsons history? Everyone knows the theme tune to the Itchy & Scratchy show and the homicidal nature of the show. It's a little on the outrageous side for a kids TV show but it's a fun parody of Tom & Jerry and every episode of it always makes me laugh.

giphy.gif

38. ELEANOR ABERNATHY

Better known as Crazy Cat Lady due to the fact she speaks gibberish and owns lots of cats which she enjoys throwing at people/over houses etc. I cannot help myself from laughing out loud EVERY time she throws a cat !! What an amazing character tbh

giphy.gif

39. SEA CAPTAIN

I agree with Chez that the Sea Captain is a rather underrated character :( His stereotypical accent always makes me laugh and the fact that he's not a real sea captain and is actually rather rubbish at actually sailing ships. He also owns a restaurant but is just as unsuccessful with that, bless him

giphy.gif

40. CARL CARLSON

I don't know for sure in terms of number of episodes but I feel like Carl may be the most main character to drop out yet? I do think he's a good character and I like his banter with Lenny but I've always preferred the latter as a character really so he's much higher up in the countdown.

Yasss the Crazy Cat Lady!!

I haven't really watched any recent series, are Itchy & Scratchy still featured? Them and Bumblebee Man just show how BIG the show is because they're two characters whose main purpose is just TV shows within the programme but they're instantly recognisable and in the case of I&S can have full episodes dedicated to them (e.g. the one with the creator).

Agnes is also brutal but brilliant!

I haven't watched much of the new series either (just a few episodes in the past month or so in preparation for this countdown) but a quick Google tells me they are still featured in recent series :D I think my favourite episode about them is "The Day the Violence Died" with Chester Lampwick, that was one of my favourite episodes as a child.

Thanks for the comments Froot! :D

31. REVEREND LOVEJOY

Tim Lovejoy is the local Church Minister in Springfield. After constant pestering from Ned Flanders, he has become a bit disinterested in religion over the years and frequently performs dull and monotone sermons at the church. I like him as a character a lot but unfortunately, he's not in it enough to be any higher.

giphy.gif

32. ROD & TODD FLANDERS

I used to find these two a bit irritating when I was younger which is probably why they're not a bit higher in this countdown but I do find them gloriously odd nowadays and I always find myself laughing at what they have to say. My favourite scenes are with them and Bart together as they have a funny dynamic between the three of them.

33. OTTO MANN

Otto is probably most well-known as the bus driver on the Springfield Elementary Bus. He's known to be taking loads of drugs and that is often reflected in his crazy driving. Another character that often doesn't have much to do outside of one particular location but he is a fun side character when we get to see him on the bus.

giphy.gif

34. KENT BROCKMAN

It's getting a bit tough to rank these characters now because we only really see some of these in one particular setting (e.g. the newsroom for Kent Brockman) and not much else of them outside of that but I've placed him a little lower than Otto & Lovejoy because he makes me laugh a little less but he's still a great character to have in the show and I love the Channel 6 News scenes.

giphy.gif

35. COMIC BOOK GUY

I didn't even realise Comic Book Guy had an actual name but he is indeed officially called Jeffrey Albertson :o He's basically a snobby nerd that runs the comic book store in Springfield and is rude, sarcastic and insulting to most of his customers but he has some great one liners and I love his "WORST xx EVER" catchphrase

I like Dr. Hibbert, Crazy Cat Lady and Sea Captain.

Itchy And Scratchy is funny, it's basically a more violent version of Tom And Jerry.
