Posted October 29, 20177 yr http://www.nme.com/news/ellen-degeneres-br...message-2153797 ISTM this was just a joke between two friends - IMO the social media reaction to it was totally OTT. :o
October 29, 20177 yr The people offended have obviously never listened to Katy's song and so have no right to get offended on her behalf. I would have tweeted the same. It's her own birthday lyric. Jeez Louiiiise
October 29, 20177 yr Not that anyone takes Piers Morgan seriously, it's quite obviously a reference to "Birthday"... I actually cannot at people comparing this to recent events in Hollywood
November 1, 20177 yr I can understand the confusion bc let's be honest... it's not a staple Katy Perry hit. It was top 20 on Billboard and it was on Just Dance but... do people other than us audiophiles really know it three years on? There wouldn't be this much of an overreaction had it been something like Firework being quoted. Is it still an overreaction? ABSOLUTELY. Then again Piers Morgan is literal garbage and him instigating this does not surprise me at the slightest. What's really sexist about this is that women can't wish each other a happy birthday and reference songs without getting an endless tirade.
