Did they play Boys In The Better Land?

Yep! They did all of Dogrel (other than Dublin City Sky, which they've been playing on and off) and 2 new songs which both sounded good!).

They've said the second album will be out next year, and inspired by The Beach Boys - so I can't wait for that!

hmm would people be interested in Alternative Track of the Month I wonder?

It's very early doors, so I don't want to make a new thread. But Arctic Monkeys have been seen at the La Frette Studios in Paris - where they recorded some of TBH+C. So it's looking like a new album is in development!

Hopefully it'll release next year.

Big RHCP news as they've announced former lead guitarist John Frusciante has rejoined the band - he was a member from 1988-92 and 1998-2009 and 'current' lead guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has left.

Just seen how packed May 15th is for indie/rock album releases!

Asking Alexandria, Biffy Clyro, Bon Jovi, Declan McKenna, The Hunna, The Magic Gang and Weezer!

it's nice that so many indie artists are doing free live stream shows

been watching James Vincent McMorrow everyday

and Snow Patrol are now on in 5 minutes (8pm UK Time),

also Hozier (I think)

Not sure if anyone is a fan of La Blogoteque? They put all their shows available for free on Youtube including all the

Soirée de Poche episodes, which are really incredible, like the Damien Rice episode below

Headie One/Fred again have a collab on their joint EP with The xx on Friday.

Hyped for new xx, but I really don't have high hopes.

(There are also collabs on the EP from FKA Twigs and Sampha)

EDIT: Nevermind, it's just Jamie xx. Still intrigued though.

I was doing some browsing thinking what on earth happened to Rag'n'Bone Man's solo releases - last we heard was at the Brits this year he said it was more rock than his first album and influenced by Sam Fender - looking forward to it!

Okay I'm gonna post this idea here bc idk where else to put it now I'm not a mod as I'm hoping the mods/posters of other genre areas will see it :kink:

Idk how many of you will remember years ago I hosted a Genre Forum Song Contest where each forum held polls to nominate songs that represented them that then went forward to battle it out against each other which sounds fun in theory but in reality the format didn't work as well as I had intended so it never returned

ANYWAY I've just had an idea of a better set up that might work if people would be interested in doing it again. Basically anyone that was interested would confirm four songs, each representing a genre forum on the site (pop, rock/alt/indie, r&b and dance) or even if it was at least 3 of the 4 idk but the host would randomly select an entry from each participant to go forward and battle it out in a final or semi finals (it would depend on the amount of entries) but the fun is that you don't know what forum you'll be repping until the semi/final is up?

I'd be happy to host it later in the year (gotta do a pfsc first) if this was something people were interested in but I figured it was worth putting feelers out anyway

(if someone could share this in the genre mod forum that would also be fab tyvm x)

Just had a read through the old mod thread in that forum to remind me how the first one was run, I think that was a fairly cool idea to pit forums against each other, sounds like a decent base to go off of for a new version though.

maybe this can be an impetus to figure out a rough genre forum calendar
