Posted November 12, 20177 yr 70 years ago we fought a war to destroy one of the most evil regimes in history, and succeeded, albeit at the cost of tens of millions of lives. Ever since then we’ve sought to ensure it never happens again. Unfortunately though, that message has become corrupted. The original common sense measures taken to tackle prejudice have been taken over by people with a political agenda as inflexible as the one we fought against. Traditional values like freedom of speech are being steadily eroded in favour of a regime where criticism of anyone/anything different is seen as taboo, however justified it might sometimes be. Those behind this societal change seem blissfully unaware that in seeking to repress dissent, they are falling into dangerous old patterns of ostracism & persecution. They accuse their opponents of racism, bigotry & xenophobia, when they themselves are at least as intolerant as those they accuse. The question is – how do we avoid slipping ever deeper into to this pit of neo-fascism?
