We really do need to convince him we're not nearly bored with the music he's already produced and we'd be almost as happy with live performances of that as with the more complicated promotion of a brand new album.

And 'b' sides, we'd love to hear accoustic sets of the 'b' sides - for me, almost as much as new tracks.

A really informal, intimate gig. Him, his guitar and us. We could have a charity tombola.

We'd pay a donation to get a card to write down the name of one song we've never heard him sing live and he picks them out one by one. If he selects a duplicate, he gets to sing something else of his own choice.

Wouldn't that be a fun idea?

I agree with Meg, would also like the B sides. Regarding brilliant 19 do wonder if he is with them, feel not, they just seem to be stagnant with no new acts. Perhaps he just has an agent in america, seem to remember that was the case for the acting side. My feeling is that he is not with brilliant 19 because of the PR side, even if he is not releasing surely the odd mention would be put forward for the press just to keep him in the public eye. Brilliant 19 dont seem to be operative because surely they would be pushing new acts under their belt. It must be two years since amy winehouse left them and wasnt she with mercury who dropped her, they must be kicking themselves. How she has advanced since a change of management!!!

Simon Fuller is still Darius's manager. Whether Nicky Godwyn still plays a role I'm more uncertain.

Ummm, haven't read all this thread, I'm just wondering if Darius is releasing any new music soon?

(PS - Simon Fuller is too big to manage individual artists - he has a team of management staff who do that!)

We do know that fatmuffin, nick godwyn is one of them and managed Darius. However now Darius is based in los angeles, things could have changed.

Late Spring/Summer 2008

Nick Godwyn is/was Simon Fuller's partner, an equal not a minion.

That's the 19 Management site. Darius has never been signed to 19 Management.

The fact that his myspace was redone just this week and says 19 should be a little clue, I should think. He is definitely still signed to 19 - whether that still includes management or he wants someone over in LA, I couldn't say.

Simon Fuller will still have a major business input into D's album but my impression from what Darius has said is that he has almost total creative control over much of the production.

I cant recall which division Darius was under in Management, it was the one where him, Amy White house and one other singer/songwriter whose name escapes me..tyler...nope forget. he was never on the same mamagement site as brilliant 19 artists, he is signed to 19 's record label

mind you, talking about new music - we have access to the three new song demo clips on .net, just to keep our appetite wetted and we have heard Darius singing music - chicago and guys and dolls..not much different form pop singers singing covers is it??? LOL

Doing musicals means singing the score and injecting it with personality without re-interpreting the songs.

At first I wasn't in favour of Darius singing I've Never Been In Love Before with so much open emotion in his voice because I wondered if it might be interpreted as his voice cracking with strain and stories appearing about him not hacking it. I was 100% wrong. The audiences absolutely got it and the applause at the end of the scene was always tremendous. The reviewers too got it.

I wouldn't like D to do what Neil Sean once predicted and put out an album of songs from musicals. He is not a covers recording artist

Thankyou - spring/summer 08 then - not too long.

BTW, is Darius still with 19 at all, I can't see him listed here http://www.19.co.uk/

I was wrong. Darius is listed on that site. Go to associated companies and you'll find Brilliant19. It must be the old 19 site.

Preston , Amy was never with Mercury. She was signed to Island but it says somewhere that was through 19 so she too may be on a licensing deal. I don't have either of her albums so I wouldn't know the wording.

Darius always got on so well with Nick. I know he's still signed with 19 records and haven't heard that he's changed management company. I have no doubt we'll find out next year in the run up to the release. I know, on paper, next summer doesn't seem too long but it feels ages to go.

For all we know Nick may have moved to LA too. I haven't heard Darius mention him but we've never asked.

He's in a really nice little scene in the Home documentary. It makes me smile every time.

If D's contract stated that he would be manged by 2 named people and one retires or quits, the contract would still be in force and the remaining one would be his manager i.e. Simon Fuller.

I must have been unlucky. Most times it was Brendon Moon who was alright, or Johnny the tour manager who was a bit of a grouse. Brendon is Paulo Nutini's manager now I think.

Mind you Johnny did have a very stressful job. He drew the short straw - keeping a maverick like Darius on schedule. I think the Blue boys led him a merry dance too but for very different reasons.

Johnny seemed to mellow as he went along. I suppose having D made it a case of mellow or have a nervous breakdown.
