Baytree - thx for expleining :) I almost understood :D I had no idea Simon C was about to produce music but I guess I could have thought of that - he didn't make as much money only by PI.

Simon Fuller seems to be very posesive but I see D get on well with him. I heard a rumour that Will acussed him of stealing his money, etc.

Jules - don't think that the original version would contain those two songs but admit- karaoke version of rushes is worth listening :D

Well, Brilliant 19's web page has finally been removed. Does this mean that they no longer exist? Could it be that they still do and are actually going to update the page. I think D was the only one left before.

Any idwas anyone?

All of 19's website is down. I don't know if that's good, bad or of no interest.

Although this is not directly about D he should have come into it - Interview today full page in Mirror with Nigel lythgoe director of 19 I believe on the tele side. I have precised it because it is long.

As tv original mister nasty, nigel lythgoe is responsible for spawning a string of acid tongued judges. Simon cowell has taken over the world says Nigel, rfelaxing at his posh pad in LA. he is very popular in Britain and the US. After spending the last five years in the States where he has generated megahits such as american idol and so you think you can dance. Nigel 57 is now one of hollywoods top producers and a millionaire several times over. He laps up the glitzy lifestyle, most recently nigel who split from his wife a few months ago was snapped out with priscilla presley. He says they are very good friends coyly. Its a good time to be a Brit in america, cat deeley, ashley jensen, hugh laurie and denise van outen have also cracked it. Though Nigel has decades of behind the scenes tv experience it was only seven years ago that he shot to fame as the ruthless judge on ITV popstars, it was the first tv show of its kind and created Hearsay. Overnight the former dancer became nasty nigel renowned. I loved the tag and of course I played up to it. Despite being nicknamed the Flopstars most of Hearsay - kym marsh, suzanne shaw, mylene klass, noel sullivan and danny foster have cared out decent careers in showbis. Kym is proving a revelation in coronation street, mylene came second in last years im a celebrity and suzanne has starredin several musicals Nigel insists he wishes them all well but appears to do it through gritted teeth. I met up with noel recently he is the resident singer in a ballroom dancing show in Las vegas. Nigel has close ties with simon cowell. He is now settled across the atlantic and has no plans to return to blighty. He really does like it there and his two sons are following in fathers footsteps. Would I ever come back to Britain, only if they started paying me what I get over here.He could have mentioned D as he was in my opinion just as much a star of popstars as the others and denise van outen is back in this country, word being they couldnt understand her accent. The interesting bit was about noel harrison singing in las vegas, could have been someone else.

Apologies if you found this boring but I thought it was interesting especially as the directors of 19 seem to be doing well for themselves. Nicki chapman was on tv presenting another show this week.

I like the 'gritted teeth' bit. Show-biz is very cut throat, the competition is so fierce, the rewards so great.

And usually it is the men in power who gain the most, not the participants, especially in reality shows.

Cowell, Fuller, Lythgoe etc, have all done very well for themselves, at the expense of many broken hearts.

quote Bramley - Cowell, Fuller, Lythgoe etc, have all done very well for themselves, at the expense of many broken hearts

That is so true.

According to wikipedia Nigel strarted out as a professional dancer with the young generation group. He eventually became head of entertainment and comedy at London weekend television where he commisioned and produced Blind date and gladiators. He certainly has done well for himself. He is now according to wikipedia President of 19 Entertainment.

Thanks, Preston. To be fair, I always thought Nigel was great and that he was not a 'nasty' judge at all. It's true he had to smash a lot of dreams and upset a lot of young people and their families but I always thought the Popstars judges were very humane on the whole.

I think this looks like a case of the journalist dragging up Popstars and Hear'say against Nigel's wishes. To be fair, he didn't mention Liberty X, who made the final 10, and it's not that long ago I remember that Nigel did mention his continuing friendship in LA with Darius in another large interview. I think it came out while Darius was doing Chicago. Didn't he also say something about Darius and Natasha being the most striking couple in LA?

Yes he did Baytree say that about Natasha and Darius. It was in an interview with the daily mail. however I have watched him on the american programme which I believe is his baby - So you think you can dance - and he seems different, very sure of himself and perhaps the fact he is dating priscilla presley now bears it out. They are working on a new series of this dance programme and if you get the chance do watch the standard of modern dance with a mixture of other dances thrown in has been brilliant. They are a bit worried they wont find that standard of dancers for the next series.

I have occasionally been guilty of watching Strictly Come Dancing or whatever it's called but I absolutely drew the line at So You Think You Can Dance. I can't stand Graeme Norton as a presenter so I didn't watch the UK show and I've never watched any of the entertainment reality shows from America.

I like traditional dance but I get easily bored by contemporary dance. There were even some bits of Chicago where I used to lose concentration. I did not like the routine for Velma Takes The Stand. I thought it was OTT but at least I could watch Darius watching Velma, and there was always the possibility he might drop her when she took that flying leap.

I do agree that it appears that the glitz of LA and being a recognisable celeb in America because of his role as a judge on TV, have gone to Nigel's head. He's of a certain age. Maybe he's having one of those mid-life crises.

Was there a picture? Has he changed or does he still look the same?

...........there was always the possibility he might drop her when she took that flying leap.

 what a wicked thought.......cheered me up no end

Yes there was a picture Baytree but it wasnt very flattering. I have to say that the standard of dancing on this american programme was absolutely staggering and way above what this country has put out on their modern dance programme.
So do the people on SoYou Think You Can Dance win some kind of a professional contract or is it just a trophy and cash?

There's was always the delicious chance that with all those tangled limbs in the Havana scene, he'd come a spectacular cropper in G&D. The spoilsport.............I went to only his 2nd show in Liverpool and he got it all right!

There's no harm. He could take it. e'd just pick himself up and go on.

I don't expect it will affect Darius. It's the same people at the top. They're just taking the company private to ensure they keep control of all future developments. CFX were the lot which bought a major shareholding from Simon Fuller in 2005. They seem to be very much into owning full rights to people's name and image - just what the PI/Idols contracts insisted on.

I can't imagine Darius would have signed up to that with Brilliant19. He was very keen on protecting his intellectual rights.

Oops. Ignore that. I must've copied the wrong link. Whenever the language pack thing comes up I always just close the dialogue box. When you do you get this.

1-6-2007

NEW YORK, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CKX, Inc.The sale transaction and distribution of shares in FX Luxury Realty are intended to allow CKX stockholders to receive a cash return on their CKX investment while continuing to share directly in the exploitation of CKX's Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali assets through FX Luxury Realty's real estate projects, which are expected to include Elvis Presley- and Muhammad Ali-themed attractions as well as FX Luxury Realty's other real estate ventures. As a result of the merger transaction and the FX Luxury Realty stock distribution, CKX stockholders will receive the $13.75 cash merger consideration and a share of stock in FX Luxury Realty for each share of CKX common stock that they hold. The sale of CKX will be accomplished through a merger with 19X, Inc., a private company owned and controlled by Mr. Sillerman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CKX, and Simon R. Mr. Sillerman, Mr. Fuller and members of senior management have agreed to vote their shares in favor of certain competing offers that the special committee deems more favorable, from a financial point of view.Commenting on the series of transactions, Mr. Sillerman said, \"After two successful years of developing and exploiting the assets we have acquired, during which time we have seen tremendous year over year growth, we have come to realize that there is a substantial opportunity to capitalize on the Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali assets in real estate and location-based attractions. However, the pursuit of these opportunities would require a significant investment of capital, which could hinder our ability to grow the core area of our business and which is not consistent with the business plan that we have always described to our stockholders. As a result, we thought it best to provide our stockholders a capital realization opportunity as well as the opportunity to participate in a new public company that will develop real estate and location-based projects that exploit CKX's iconic intellectual property content. We believe that the transactions that we announced today accomplish that goal.\"Mr. Fuller added, \"I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished and am looking forward so much to continuing to work with Bob building the amazing assets that we have in Idol, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali and the Beckhams. I believe this transaction provides the best way to maximize the value we have created.\"Also on June 1, 2007, CKX acquired 50 percent of FX Luxury Realty LLC for cash consideration of $100 million. Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin acted as financial advisor to the special committee and has issued an opinion to the CKX board of directors stating that the merger consideration is fair to unaffiliated CKX stockholders from a financial point of view and that the investment in FX Luxury Realty is fair to unaffiliated CKX stockholders from a financial point of view.19X was advised by Credit Suisse on this transaction. For more detailed information on the transactions see our Current Report on Form 8-K, which was filed today and may be obtained at the Company's website at http://www.ckx.comAbout CKX, Inc.CKX, Inc. is engaged in the ownership, development and commercial utilization of entertainment content. Lots of legal mumbo jumbo. Not through yet.

Edited by Baytree

Face, voice, name all owned by faceless board members of a company run to make huge profits.

That's worse than losing copyright to the highest bidder. They say Michael jackson has now bought some of Eminem's and he hasn't sold off the Beatles' yet.
