April 18, 200619 yr Yes but how do they make their money? Do you know how it differs from a record deal?
April 18, 200619 yr With a record deal the artist gets a set amount of money as an advance to write/record/promote an album. If the album does not sell well the record company loses money. A distribution deal only does what it says on the tin.... Emma Bunton and Simon Fuller had a 3 way distribution deal with a record company. They financed the album themselves, the company distributed it and they split the profits 3ways.
April 18, 200619 yr Thanks Awesome and Maud for the info. It is now a waiting game to see what sort of deal Gareth releases on. Just wish he would hurry up. I'm ageing by the day
April 25, 200619 yr From New Magazine today tuesday - Gareths new role. Despite being dumped by his record label, Gareth gates is looking on the bright side and plans to release a greatest hits record soon. However, his former mentor Simon cowells doesnt get off scot-free as Pop idol runner-up Gareth 21, blames him for his lack of career direction. He told my mole, he wsas never there. He was supposed to manage me but then went off to the US leaving me with no one. As well as the new release, Gareth may soon appear in panto after being asked to play Buttons for £4000 a week. And he is also looking at an offer to star in this years celebrity love island, where he plans to tell his side of the story about his romance with jordan. He said now its my turn. We cant wait to hear it all Gaz.

April 25, 200619 yr Gareth gates is looking on the bright side and plans to release a greatest hits record soon. That'll be a bit short! (Sorry!)
April 26, 200619 yr This is Neil Sean speaking, of course its a load of rubbish. I thought I recognised the style - or lack of it!
April 26, 200619 yr his hits are forget, he need new cd. They're not forgotten by me  But I agree with you he does need a new cd (album) Just wish he'd get on with it. Can't be too far off now
April 27, 200619 yr Gareth's avoided doing PAs for the last two years because he wanted to focus on moving forward with new material. After all of that, he's not going to suddenly think a GH is a good idea. I know people with less hits have released them, but I don't think Gareth is one of them. Having said that, a few tracks that were just album tracks in the UK were released to radio as singles in countries where they don't do physical singles, such as "Sentimental", "Too Serious too Soon" and "No Self Control".
April 27, 200619 yr Gareth's avoided doing PAs for the last two years because he wanted to focus on moving forward with new material. Has he actually said this Nosey, or are you just assuming? I still find it hard to understand that he's been practically a recluse for over two years. Has anything been put up on his official site since the statement from 19, any news yet on what he's doing? Maybe his management are waiting till later on in the year now before he releases something new, it must be really frustrating not being told anything and I hope you get some news soon.
April 28, 200619 yr I wouldn't call that banter, more like a genuine question and concern. We were just as much in the dark when Will was out of circulation in 2003. Very frustrating as they don't tell you anything.

As I understand it 19 (presumably in agreement with Gareth) have said no to PA's while he is working on new material- not in official statements, but to organisations that have wanted him to appear. Therefore the information we have tends to be second hand, ie through some of those organisations. As Dot said from her Will experience, 19 tend to say nothing officially and yes, it is frustrating. The very (very) few appearances that he has made have either not been performances (eg charity football) or where he could sing Christmas stuff (eg lights switch ons), or impromptu (on stage with the writers of Sunshine or Judie Tzuke when he was working with them) or abroad (eg China and Brunei).....and there haven't been any appearances at all as far as we know for a fair while. You learn to be patient. :( Edited April 28, 200619 yr by Sybil
April 28, 200619 yr You learn to be patient. :( I don't think fans of any other artist has learned to have more patience than Gareth's fans Sybil. Sometimes I've felt like upping sticks and moving to China. Got a feeling in my bones that our patience is about to pay off any day though, haven't you I don't think Suggy's query was banter either. Its good to see people are still interested in Gareth after all this time :)
April 28, 200619 yr Author I'm still interested in Gareth too :D I think it's awful that 19 don't even allow him to leave a message for fans on his website - what harm would that do :???: The GBP are interested in him, he was part of a huge show - even if it was ages ago now. I can understand him not giving interviews at the moment though, - could be embarassing for him and all concerned with his career to date.
