There isn't really a target audience for it. It's not as if there is a large Tunisian or Panamanian community in the UK.

That statement intrigued me enough to do some digging to see just how many Tunisians/Panamanians actually do live in the UK. I couldn't find any figures for Panama (if anyone can find any, I'd by interested to see it), but there's about 8,000 Tunisians living in the UK.

Mark Jefferies Twitter:

Incredible new ratings records for #LoveIsland last night. Average of 3.4m viewers and 4m peak, ITV2’s highest ratings ever. It had 1.7m 16-34s which is the highest 16-34 audience for a digital channel programme ever. Big congrats to @IainDoesJokes @carolineflack1 and the team.
omg plz someone stop the island of fake love

According to the tabloids people were SHOCKED to read some tweets suggesting people go on for fame and not live. SHOCKED!! The show and tabloids then denied these SHOCK CLAIMS

Loool!! They must think we are all stupid!

Closest Eastenders will be to Coronation Street this year then?

Incredible ratings for Love Island, wouldn’t surprise me if they managed higher ratings tonight!

Feel like EE ratings tomorrow could be their worst yet

Yup, they're gonna be a whopping 0 cause it's not on tomorrow :basil:

ITV gifted the peak audience of the year for the penalties - anything less than 20m viewers would be disappointing considering 11m was the peak for a non-England match!

Also guaranteed huge average for the Saturday QF on the BBC as well!

Actually seeing the Belgium v Japan rating, I think this will comfortably be the biggest overnight rating since the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony for sure.

The World Cup really soaring in the ratings this time round!!

I based my assertion on the fact that there are no particularly close ties between the UK and either Tunisia (a former French colony) or Panama.

The England game gave ITV its highest peak rating since 1998 apparently! :o Biggest football rating since 2004 too.

Some breakdowns from Digital Spy Forums:

* 1st half (19:00-19:50): 17.95m (76.6%)

* 2nd half (20:05-21:00): 20.89m (77.6%)

* Penalties (21:45-21:55): 23.72m (80.2%)

Colombia v England Demos

C4-15: 1.47m (83.6%)... 8.9% skew

16-34: 3.54m (78.4%)... 21.5%

35-44: 2.40m (77.1%)... 14.5%

45-54: 3.07m (75.3%)... 18.6%

55-64: 2.54m (65.4%)... 15.5%

65+: 3.47m (52.2%)... 21.0%

Male/Female split: 56.6/43.6

ABC1 Skew: 57.4%

Above 20m peak as I predicted then *.* insane that the match averaged 20m too!!! 😮

Shame the Saturday match is starting at 3pm, it could’ve gone even higher in the evening but will be lucky to match last night!

If England get to the semi final then that would break all of these records because the match will kick off next Wednesday at 7 PM UK time just like last night's game.
