August 5, 20186 yr Not even a million for The Hobbit on itv Saturday night prime time :o Surely it's because everyone has seen it already? ITV2 repeat it a lot as well.
August 5, 20186 yr Plus they’re shown every single time there’s a gap between The Voice/BGT/The X Factor

August 6, 20186 yr ITV2 beat Channel 5 in the monthly shares in July, obviously that's due to Love Island but could them being close be a permanent change and eventually could ITV2 become the fifth most watched channel? Channel 5 are doing v badly.

August 8, 20186 yr Is Emmerdale going through a rough patch atm? It is shedding viewers and nearly down to EE levels

August 8, 20186 yr Soaps really are going through a disappointing spell, I don’t know if EE will be able to recover, Hollyoaks used to almost get 2 million viewers on C4 and they went through a horrible stage, now they’re lucky to get even 900,000 viewers which is a great shame!

Hollyoaks does well on consolidate , I saw somewhere it gets more 16-34s than Emmerdale  Emmerdale has just looked good ratings wise because it’s ahead of EE but it’s ratings have been poor in itself. Fab night for ITV considering it’s a Tuesday :o
August 8, 20186 yr Hollyoaks is pretty much aimed solely at the 16-34 age bracket whereas Emmerdale seems to have an older target audience so I'd be shocked if Hollyoaks didn't do better in that age group! I think the soaps just seem to be suffering from the summer lull, and the good weather certainly won't have been helping things. People would rather spend their time outside than in!

Agreed! It will never recover.

Well yeah, but Emmerdale has over 5 million viewers overall and Hollyoaks is lucky to get one million even when the two showings are combined. Corrie is still doing really well considering that.
August 8, 20186 yr Well yeah, but Emmerdale has over 5 million viewers overall and Hollyoaks is lucky to get one million even when the two showings are combined. Corrie is still doing really well considering that. I know and my point still stands I think. I'm still not especially surprised that Emmerdale mostly has an audience of 35+, a lot of people my age that I know seem to scoff at it and say it's for old people, while you'd expect the majority of Hollyoaks' audience to be 34 or under! In the last set of ratings posted here, Corrie does seem to be a bit down on usual too, but both that and Emmerdale have brilliant shares so I don't think there's any crisis really, EastEnders is the worrying one.
August 8, 20186 yr That must be the first time in years outside of BGT / IAC weeks that ITV has beaten BBC One on a Tuesday primetime!!
